Panthera I Jumped In!

I told you i might go for a king in a chassis for bench. It has the same receiver the chassis is different for the front bottle. Besides you llooked at many different options.
I just cut and pasted that from your DM lol. I’m looking forward to the challenge of making it work for me. My number one reason for buying the Panthera was that there were only two options available immediately and it was one of them. Of course I did not know that Talon was getting more RTIs in a day or two after lol.

I’m just playing around. I know very well what I chose to buy. If I don’t like it, I’ll move on lol. At least I’m at the point in my life where I don’t have to pretend to like something. The wife has already been prepped that it might be a short relationship.
I don't know about "liking" it, but I really respect a shooter, and it's a shooter. I don't have to like something, to like having it around. I never really liked my Tacoma, especially compared to the Ram I used to have, but I have had it for twenty years now and it still looks new, and no rust. In a state that uses salt heavily and it has been my daily driver. I like that I kept it!

If I had the money I’d try them all.
Besides the cost, I don't know, I'd really like to try a BlackWolf. I wish we could rent these things for a month.
me too. I posted the results of a Florida match from this past weekend and several BWs were in use.

Back to the gun, I was just wondering if I should get the tungsten hammer weight? I am currently almost maxed out on the Macro and micro hammerspring adjustment. If I got the Huma hammerspring and the tungsten hammer weight, couldn't I back my adjustments way back and still be making the same power? Supposedly this gun can do 96fpe in .22. I don't know how FX came up with that number, but I'd like to know. I already have the biggest transferport made (and it's not theirs) a slug probe, and a better regulator, and a heavier Huma hammer weight. True, that I have not turned up my regulator past 160b, but my hammerspring is already near max, so I don't think that I even have enough left to turn up the reg right now anyway. I really don't even think that I want any more power to use than what I'm running now, I just don't want to be making it with maxed out settings. I know that if I turned it up too much with the tungsten hammer weight installed I could break something but I am not likely to do that. Would the system run better with more hammer weight at a lower spring compression or is it running better right now just off of max? I don't know, anybody else run these tests? I could just add weight to the existing hamer weight too. What would be the ideal hammer weight (in grams) to make 85fpe in the middle range of the hammer spring adjustment wheel? I guess that's the real question that I'm asking.

I got my ZAN ELR Hyper Line slugs today from UA! These things glow like they are radioactive, nice bright color, I am going to try them tomorrow if it's not raining. Of course, the first thing I did was measure and weigh them. They are very consistent but that doesn't mean that they are what is on the box. The box says that they weigh 40.7gr, and the twenty that I weighed were exactly 40gr, every one, and I weighed some other slugs in between to make sure my scale wasn't sticking. I don't know what's up with that, and I don't care, so long as they always stay the same. The width was spot on .218, and the length had just a couple that were off a thousandth or two but almost all were .471", and even those still weighed 40gr. If I can actually see these at distance, and they are always cleaning my barrel instead of fouling it, than they will certainly be worth the extra 2 cents each, over the price of the Air Marksman. I am not competing, so I'm not even going to bother with experiencing the accuracy of the Alteros slugs, they are too much money for plinking.

Update: I just tried to shoot the Hyper Line slugs @242y, it was overcast and that didn't help anything. These were the first slugs that I shot that the gun doesn't seem to like. The regular 43gr ELR slugs shoot awesome. I will have to do more testing but this was a surprise. The other thing, was that my FX D1 chrony was not picking up the Hyper Lines, but read regular lead slugs just fine. Is anyone else noticing this?

The final thing is that I would say that if you are going to get Orion magazines to shoot heavy slugs, buy the deeper ones (the standard ones.) Even though the slugs might seem to fit in the "reduced" mags, they don't. The regular lead slugs were working in my 18 rounder but the Hyper lines were jamming it up. My 12 shot magazine has been too tight with everything. I will be buying the deeper (standard) magazine from him and try that out.

edit: I just ordered the magazine and changed this post to reflect the proper name for the two depths, which is; reduced and standard. 'Reduced' is basically for pellet shooting. 'Standard' is for slugs.

I used a regular chronograph today because the Hyper Line ELR slugs seem to utilize stealth technology too, and my radar doesn't see them. I shoot lead and it sees those fine. My results have me convinced that I some how got a bad batch of the 40.7gr (actually 40) Hyper Line ELR slugs. I'm really curious to hear about other people's experiences with these slugs. I am a big fan, and user, of ZAN slugs, the lead ones, and there's no way these things are what he meant to put in the box. First off, they are not the correct weight, second they shoot all over the place, and third, I had a 110fps spread! I put in regular lead ZAN ELR slugs and they shoot great, AirMarksman shoot all the same speed, H&N all shoot well. I even tried single loading them by hand. I got 970fps up to 1080fps shooting them, and only these had a spread like that, all the lead slugs, ZAN's too, shot low to no fps spread. Something seems off to me. I certainly won't be trying anymore, until someone tells me that they shoot great in their similar setup. My setup is fairly common for an FX, 700mm Superior Heavy 1in 16" twist 155b. I definitely have to wait out my shock and see if this is just some how my problem alone, or if the same thing is happening for others. I thought about not posting this because I like the company and the guys work ethic and I don't want to discourage people from using and trying ZAN, but if there are slugs out there that are shooting this bad for others, it's better to just get out in front of it, identify, and fix, than to let fester.

Thats a bummer to hear. I feel like these were pretty hyped being able to not lead up a barrel. Your the first ive heard that has them, though havent really sought that out. Sucks to hear about your experience.

Yeah, they are shooting like a cleaning pellet too, lol. Like I said though, I really don't believe that this is normal. Something is major league wrong here. ZAN would not have released something shooting like this. He said in AEAC's video that it took a lot longer than he had thought it would to get them right, and I think I got a box of the rejects that should not have gone out. It has to be that.

The shooting like a cleaning pellet got me lol. Yeah who knows really. I do know ZAN had issues when they first introduced their 30 BR pellets. Maybe its similar situation. Think you got them dialed but in reality not? Who knows. Hopefully others have better experience with them and its just a bad box but regardless sucks in your case

Yeah, but I love ZANs, two of my guns depend on them for greatness! I will cut them a lot of slack to get them right, because I know he will really try.
