Break Barrel HW50S

Well 2 things I'm not fond of bit just a fact of these guns is ball detants and that "latch". Now good thing is that he50 latch can be took a part / removed to clean and service the spring and sliding parts .. maybe even polish to help maintain a easy smooth action bs sticking and scratching that part of the receiver it enguages to ..

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you but the HW50s is not ball detent, but rather the chisel shaped barrel lockup.

The HW30s is a ball detent though....

Ya, I was just referring to the 3. the ball, the latch , and chisel types .. should of been more clear

The op was saying
"except what did happen is the plunger wedge was siezed, causing it to gaul away the case hardened steel from the reciever wedge(which is machined as part of the reciever on the 50) i tried everything to remedy it after fixing the plunger wedge, it just kept wearing away the now exposed softer steel, even with moly lube.".

I did jump and mistake that issue with the 35 Latch that scrapes the receiver .

Still the chisel you can make a small compressor so to say and knock knock he pin out and replace the chisle and spring or just to remove to clean up and inspect that issue..

But..... If bought from AoA let them deal with that under there lifetime warranty.. lol

Sorry for my confusion.🥴

My first break-barrel was Gamo Wildcat Whisper .177 initially with a Gamo scope and latter with a Hammers with a one piece mount, which I had mixed results and feelings about compared to my other air guns.
I was spoiled by my Marauder and Discovery, not to mention my backyard guns the Daisy 880 and Diana Chaser. All accurate rifles. My view was/is the GWW was an embarrassment.
I have been researching for another break-barrel. My initial dream rifle was a Diana 48. Then several threads came up on several boards about Weihrauch rifles.
I narrowed my search and desires to either a HW-30 or an HW-50S in .177 or .22 and kept reading.
Last night I decided on the HW-50S in .177... It will be here Friday, just in time for the weekend. I will attempt to tame this break-barrel at first with iron sights.
Any insights or thoughts?
Checking in on the new gun. How do you like it? Did you tune it?

I love HW springers and have had a HW50 in .177. It is a great gun! I consider the cleaning/polishing/tuning kit installation as the “bonding” moment for me and my new gun. It is the time when it becomes mine.

I prefer the FAC/“Maxi” TbT (Tinbum Tuning) kits from the UK. These are “full power”custom springs/guides, but not overpowered for the platform. I think that catering to the sub-12 guys allowed them to find the sweet spot on how to make a spring gun shoot really sweet.

My HW50 had one and shot 10.7fpe and was almost pcp gentle. My R9 in .22 has a maxi kit in it and shoot 14-15fpe and is quiet and smooth as butter.

I shot my FIL’s Gamo Swarm g2 last month and was shocked at how rough and loud it seemed in comparison. I hope you’re enjoying the upgrade!

No, I have not tuned it. But, she shoots one ragged hole at 25 yards with AA 10.3 Gr Heavy's. Now scoped with a BSA 3-9 x 32

Seriously, look at the Cometa guns. You'll want a BKL scope mount because they lack a stop hole, but they shoot sweet.
Seems I posted on them here or one I'd be interested in.. 4th down 400 compact with sights

Scope rail and a ball detent kinda turns me off in any today . Like fwb slot stop rail .. lol. .what a mess that can be .
