Others How do you mount your Scopes and keep things level while shooting!?

I ain't stupid enuf to spend on then jbs pellets ..lol. Fool and there money ate soon parted ..
Hey whoa easy😂 I shot crosman pellets exclusively from... lol my crosman springer and then my Slavia for 20plus years, didn't know any better. Got my S510 and the JSBs were recommended, and after trying a few crosman/H&N varieties I realized they were right. About 2 tins of 500 for $60cdn (plus a few others to test) ran me last year no problem. Money well spent, and absolutely countless pests taken care of. Even got a rabbit for the freezer😋

You figure at my 50y area I got like 18 things to shoot at now you do say 5 shots a piece that's 90 pellets right there then there's the other stuff at other yardages
So if I decide to run the gauntlet that plus the rest is a lot of pellets in one sitting then I want to shoot 5 shot groups in paper thats 10m, 50' , 20y, 30, 50, 75 , somet time if a perfect day 100. .. it's almost like I got a obsession compulsive disorder. ( But I don't . I can quit any time I wanna 😉,)

well i find my guns like the jbs and since no matter what i get i have to oder them i will gladly play the fool.
i have a few tin of cphp but i toss 25 g lead chunks the tiny cphp just dont cut it and if the wind is blow forget it. supper flys or walks away.
if crosman would have ever come out with some heavy pellets i would maybe used them?

Me to... Funny the .177 parahna 10g ate too tight . I really have to mash then in the leade ..lol . They shoot ok I guess but ??

Honestly to d like a .177 crosman dome in about a 8.5g . In .22 the cphp 14.3 are fine for my stuff but like when the Gamo was new and hot 16-18 would been nicer ..

Good muscle memory always helps too. Knowing how to consistently seat that buttplate in the shoulder pocket the same way goes a long way in lining up your scope correctly. Just throwing the butt plate up to your shoulder ain't gonna get it, no matter how well lined up you have your scope.

I use the .22 the cphp 14.3 in my pump guns but I still have to order-em when I want em. dont shoot the pumpers much any more so I probably have enough to last .
wunder how the .177 crosman dome in about a 8.5g wold do in some of my old .17 cal pumpers?
I just got one back together the other day I bet they would scream out of it.
tree rats look out!

Id like a 8.5 crosman in .177. something just a little more weight than the 7.9 are .

I do mine the same way, all my field target guns have BKL-600 levels. They are the best I have found.
I've been looking at the flip-out wheeler ones, they are pricey and it seems if you drop the rifle that little arm could snap right off! In my mind one that is adjustable (clamps onto scope for example and can be rotated into position) is a better option than something fixed.

I've used various methods over the years. Two years ago my daughter bought me the levels from fix it sticks since I already used their tools. After I mounted a scope with them, I went back and did every rifle in the safe. Quick and easy, more importantly, dead on. .

I utilize a Wheeler Pro bubble level set, which I plan to replace soon, along with the mirror method because bubble levels can be inaccurate and often differ from one another. I double-check the level with a plumb bob. The wedge levelers haven't been successful for me; once I confirm the level, I install an anti-cant device where it's visible just before or while peering through the scope. If you're using a support aid when shooting you can align it to ensure levelness.

Hello fellow Hamsters....lol still doesn't sound right🤔😅. I have finally PROPERLY mounted my Helix scope to my Ghost. I recently bought a bubble level that slides onto a Dovetail rail and ran it on my Ghost today. It was crooked and I realized a quick grind was needed to fit. Incorporating 2 levels, feeler gauges, and my downrange target I fussed till it was perfect....And I mean PERFECT. Realized I really love the Element mounts with their flat top (easy to slide a level on top), and light weight. Price is good and I really recommend them! Till now it was slap em on, go by eye, and shoot away... but the Ghost/Helix was never right. It is also amazing how often you will cant your gun while shooting and how helpful that little bubble level is! Got the feeler gauge idea from a fellow Hammer and it doesn't work on all setups, but when it does it is really helpful! When done I torqued it down to specs. Who does that?! 😆 Some pics of my struggles...
My way of leveling is probably not the best way, but I’m not shooting mega distances. 10-100 yards and 100 yards is almost never. I should probably say 10-60 yards. I use a masons line level and I level the rifle side to side in a rest or on my tripod and lock ‘er down. Then I set the scope in the rings and level it by setting the same line level on the top turret. I check and recheck multiple times during the torquing process to make sure the rifle is still level as well as the optic. I’ll check my cross hairs against a door jam that I know to be plumb at the end and sometimes during. Archaic maybe, but I seldom miss the critters out back and it’s worked well for my bench gun. I don’t dial normally on anything so, yah that’s how I do it.

This is how I level my scopes, for a more 10 dollars you can do pretty good with this setup,

Used it on my Paradigm with valdada g2 , printed half inch at 100 yards, so it must work.

Good find, I bought a different brand few years ago and it wasn't true. now I have digital scopes that have built-in gyroscopic sensors or electronic leveling indicators. If you have some money, you can throw into it Reti-Level™ | Wheeler, it might seem like a lot but nothing like having a scope mounted right. LOL especially shooting long range 100-500 yards and beyond.

Thats a really nice level, for me, if something doesn't work, I don't use it again, if it gives me results, I will continue to use it.

Scope mounting is complicated at best. So, watch this. These guys teach LONG range shooting, so getting the scope right is very important to them. Take it with a grain of salt...

Personally I used to despise having to mount a scope.

I was reading another thread about competitors needing to quickly change optics, it has been observed that some individuals use a feeler gauge between the mount and scope.

It won’t work on every scope or mount obviously and you have to be careful how thick the stack is or you could possibly damage the scope or not be able to remove the feeler gauge.

But for the most part it has been a game changer for me 👍👍.
