Below are my latest and hopeful final air gun acquisitions.

Beeman P1 .177 cal. I bought this so I could practice shooting a handgun with iron sights. This will allow me to practice at self defense distances. In this country (IMO) there are too many people carrying handguns that are not proficient at shooting them. As a shooter you own that bullet and the consequences of its damage. Hopefully, I will never have to fire a gun in defense of my family or myself, but should it be necessary I want to hit the threatening target.

Marauder Gen 1 .25 with Paul Bishop stock. I have not shot it yet but from just mounting it I know it is a perfect fit. I bought the gun for the stock to put on my Gen 2 Marauder. It won't fit, but hopeful the Gen 1 will shoot as well my Gen 2. If it works out I will sell the Gen 2.

That is my story and I am sticking to it. :)

Practice how you shoot, shoot how you practice. I don’t really see how Airgun pistol shooting will help your self defense skills. In my opinion you will gain far more from dry firing with the actual pistol you intend to use. Please consult a qualified instructor.
I can see the benefits regarding Target acquisition and Trigger pull. Especially since most home defense shots are taken at 7 yards or less. JMO

Thx for the advice WillM, at 79 the 1 thing I know there is always things to learn. Another problem with being 79 is you tend to forget things. Even though I have been actively involved in the shooting sports for well over 50 yrs. I know there are people willing to offer me heartfelt advice such as yourself and I appreciate it. Now I have competed in IPSC and IDPA, and NRA 2700 pistol (Bullseye) was a NRA SRO, won a state skeet championship, but that was, as they say, back in the day. So any advice you feel like giving me I appreciate it. As long as you don't charge me.

I finally had time to shoot the Gen 1 Marauder today. After about 20+ shots I got it zeroed at 30 yds. The max for my backyard range is 50yds so after I get familiar with it I will zero at 40 yds. That has always worked well for me. I have never owned a Gen 1 marauder but was pleasantly surprised. See below. (5 shots)

Like I said at the beginning of post, "Don't Hold Me To It", I just bought an Air Arms S510 .25 from Pyramid Air. I will be selling my 2 Benj Mrods .25 rifles. I have been wanting an S510 since shooting a friend of mine's and Pyramid Arms has the very same carbine model for sale. BTW, the latest Mrod I bought (Gen 1 .25cal with Paul Bishop stock) I just ran 56 rds through it and it still 1100 psi showing on the pressure gauge. It is .25 and must have an aftermarket regulator. But, the rds did start dropping after 40 rds. I am also going to sell my Beeman P1 Pistol.

My S510 is my go-to air rifle....good choice! Make sure you send some pics and groups with it🤩

Our agency was transitioning to red dot optics on our service pistols. Once I heard that news i bought a cheap red dot for my Beeman P3. I did daily drills at 10m. When I went to the range I was one of few that didn’t have issues transitioning to the new sight system. While it’s not good for some things, it is good for a lot.
My shooting in general has improved since making air rifle shooting one of my almost daily activities. There are a lot of skills that can’t be practiced, but all those come after the fundamentals of breathing, trigger control , sight alignment, and follow through. Those core principles go a LONG way.

At average distances for survival scenarios the sights will likely not be used, or likely the front only. As the gap increases they become more important. An enterprising young instructor from NYC iirc by the name of Cirillo used to advocate training with the glock sights taped up, so they were of no use. His premise was that if you saw the top, or either side of the slide, you shot was headed that way. I practiced that some, seemed to work at close range.

I have an AA S510 and IMO you will be extremely happy with the results. It is a fabulous rifle.
