Hi all

First time Umarex owner.

I have a pretty basic question. When I fire my M9A3, I notice the BB dip shortly after leaving the barrel. First time ever firing after unboxing, full co2 cartridge correctly installed with pellgunoil.

I'm not at all unfamiliar with GBB airsoft guns, and Im wondering if anyone can tell me if the wheel I'm seeing here is the hop up adjustment? If so, which way do I turn it?

Can you please post another photo or two as I can't recognize what I am seeing in the picture above. Then I have a better chance of helping you.

But one thing is for sure. The overwhelming majority of - maybe all - 4.5 mm caliber, steel BB guns are not equipped with hop-up.

Welcome to our HAMlet. I am not familiar with that model, but I also don't know about any hop up for 4.5mm bb guns. Umarex doesn't show that dial existing in their photos, or mention a hop up capability. With photos of the full gun to go along with it, maybe someone smarter than Papa can help.

Here's another photo of the gun itself. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of the slide further away. Seeing as it seems that most of these as you guys say don't have it, it must be for something else but what?

Hello. Your last photo does confirm 4.5mm. Hop-Up is for plastic 6mm AirSoft. The barrel on the 4.5mm in this instance retains the Hop-Up mechanics. I have this model. The Hop-Up function is to put back spin by adding friction to the top of the bb. The back spin aids lift in flight. Steel bb don't benefit. One thing to note is metal fatigue of the barrel at the breach cutout. Using the Hop-Up could cause fractures as the design is such that pressure is placed on the lower half of the Hop-Up cut out in order to lower the bucking rubber. When no improvement is seen in trajectory one may over tighten when adjusting. For 4.5mm, best leave alone so the screw is not under stress. Hopefully you have sorted this by now and having fun. The photo is the breach of my M9A3 4.5mm ( Umarex UK model 5.8419 ) missing in the photo is the clamp that the knurled screw uses to adjust the bucking. The cut out on mine does show some cracking! But again, not for use in the 4.5mm caliber.
