I bought this new 'Heartland Airguns' suppressor to replace the 'Fox 300' that I have been running on one of my ground squirrel rifles. The light weight of the Heartland suppressor was what sold me on giving it a try. When you are on foot carrying your rifle and gear all day in the field every ounce of weight you can save is of value!
The Heartland unit is the exact same diameter (30mm) as the Fox unit, but much shorter in length. The Heartland suppressor is made of carbon fiber, aluminum and 3D printed composite. The Fox Suppressor is all aluminum. The Fox unit has angled baffles and the Heartland has more traditional cone shaped baffles with some relief cut-outs in the cones.
The rifle I tested with is .22 caliber shooting 32fpe. Pretty much standard power range for many .22 air rifles.
Just looking at the two suppressors side-by-side I thought for sure the Fox would win in a sound suppression comparison. If for no other reason than it is longer and has more internal volume. Surprisingly..., after testing, the two suppressors are so close to the exact same suppression level that my 'ear' decibel meter can not tell one from the other!
I always considered the Fox 300 suppressor to be very quiet. I am amazed, and happy the Heartland Mini-Mod is every bit as quiet! If there is any difference between the two on my test rifle it is that the Fox has a very slightly higher tone than does the Heartland but overall rifle report is as exactly the same as I can tell from my own hearing!
I was also surprised to find out that my rifle's POI on target did NOT change at all between the two suppressors! I fired 5-shot groups side-by-side, alternating between the Fox and Heartland and not only was POI identical, but shot-to-shot precision was also the same! I really couldn't be happier with how the new Heartland suppressor performs on my rifle!
The new Heartland Whisperlite Mini-Mod will be attached to my favorite ground squirrel rifle and the Fox can now stay on my bench rifle instead of sharing it between the two rifles.
If you are looking for a quality air rifle suppressor with a very fair price, have a look at 'Heartland Airguns' offerings.
