Today I was working on my Taipan Veteran II, purchased some slugs and started to tune.

I needed to open it up and increase the regulator pressure, with that adjustment made I put it back together started to fill.

And a huge leak…

So instead of dealing with situation I grabbed my HW95 “ScarFace” and completed @Billm ’s springer challenge and that was very enjoyable.

I’ve read here and elsewhere that “A serious Airgunner should have at least one high end spring piston rifle”.

Sure, it’s a pretentious statement but on days like today I feel it has some merit.

Anyway the leak is fixed and tomorrow afternoon the saga will continue.

That’s an awesome way to “walk away and come back to something that was frustrating”. I have to admit, I figured my springer days were over, but I enjoyed shooting it. Now, I find myself drooling over all of those pretty walnut stocks.

@Scriv has that .20 with the tiger stripe walnut, it’s beautiful and I know that the pictures do not do it justice. When Orv asked him what kind of wax did he use to get to look like that he replied, Wax?? I rubbed it with $50 bills. I smiled not laughed and thought “totally worth it”

My (arbitrary) airgun formula is this:
-Shoot springers in .177 for inside 50Y @ 10-14fpe, mostly plinking and paper.
-Pcps in .22 or higher for pesting and longer ranges if required. Sometimes you need to do some quiet, close range shooting and springers just fit the Bill (see what i did there?) so well.
I break my own 'rules' fairly frequently but I will likely never own a .22 springer.., and...I gotta get that target printed!

I think that some air gunners shoot springers, then end up going to PCP as a process of evolution. They think "my springer days are over", and then something strikes them to pick them back up. At that point they realize that they are still valid, and enjoyable to shoot. I gave away a wonderful Beeman R7 because I thought that I was done with it. I had that rifle for decades. I take comfort in knowing that it is giving a new shooter a start. I guess my point is that we often go full circle to find out where we need to be. A year ago I watched a plump old guy roll around on the ground shooting HFT with a springer on you tube, and wondered why. Now I get it.
