I am an old retired school counselor with an unreasonable love for competitive airgun events. I recently overreached by shooting the Nationals which did nothing to diminish my addiction... I was helped through it by Tony P, Brian W, and Hector M. I'm now determined to compete with my TX200 until I keel over, undeterred by the fact I'll always be near the low end of scores for piston hunter. (at 84, I intend to shoot poorly for the rest of my life!)

One question: for a 12 pound gun, which home installed tune kit should I get?

Ahhh , now you've opened the proverbial can of worms. On my TX200 I've installed a Vortek PG4 full power tune. The 12 fpe tune is popular as well and may actually be better for field target applications. The TbT tunes have a great folllowing too. YouTube has a plethora of "how to" videos on these, but I urge you to be cautious as there are plenty of self-promoting scammers out there. Tony and Hector are excellent and to be trusted resources as well. Once you're into your TX200, be sure to do a complete cleaning of the internals. Tom Gaylord has a truly great set of videos available thru the Pyramyd AIR blog on the how to on accomplishing this. Simply Googling "Tom Gaylord" will work as well. You can get to the TbT Tunes thru YouTube as well. I'm not nearly as old as you are, as I'll only be 79 next month. I welcome you to our Hard Air Magazine (HAM) Fourms. There're plenty of welcoming friends to be found here. Orv.

Cameron K is a TX GURU!!!!!! You tell him what you want and he will make it happen. He has worked on Norma Jean before and I have had great success with her.

Tony P.
Thank you, sir.
I'll get in touch with him if Sandy and I survive this rainstorm, which has us still stuck in Wickenburg! I thought AZ was supposed to be nothing but good weather! I keep looking for an Ark!

Well, personally, I don’t think the TX 200 needs much. I pretty well like it just like it is it’s hard to beat the way it comes out of the factory.

Ahhh give it a year or two. Mine was honking and barking. Slapping my shoulder harder, twisting as it fired. Power went down far too much so I gutted mine, Very easy to do.
I went with the TBT full power kit and it has been good. I have a few threads on my TX on ham.
Its on the never getting sold list for sure.
I think if I shot comps with it I might have went with a Sub12fpe kit. I imagine the Vortek kits are just as good 👍
@Nice to see you still enjoying springers at 84 @Cousin Jack!

I tried the Vortex was not really impressed. So I went back to standard TX 200. I’ve had mine for about 10 years maybe not quite that long but I’m happy with it the way it is now. I’m 86. I think I’ll just enjoy it like it is.
