Others Do you 'Dial', or 'Hold'?

I do it like BBGunn described it.

For hunting, I also try to calculate (and modify) my PBR (point blank range) — so that compensations for close to mid ranges are not necessary.
For longer ranges the quarry usually gives me ample time to make turret adjustments, even time to get my ballistic calculator out to run a more precise calculation with wind and direction and all that.

Matthias 😊

Great post and its been on my mind alot lately as i am putting my new Gen2 Helix scope through its paces...I hold over/under only and I struggle mostly with (here it comes🙄😂😭) really close shots inside 25Y. For those shots I try to use my Hw50 on irons. The 2 scopes i own that you should NOT trust for dialing are the Hawke Airmax & Vantage scopes, crystal clear glass though...
I bought the Midas Tac and Element Helix scopes specifically to dial em but so far have been reluctant to get into it, excellent turret quality on both.
A big part missing from this conversation is SFP vs FFP scopes. I am slowly (scopes ain't cheap!) switching over to FFP, esp for hunting rigs. As I only hold over, using a SFP results in some misses that should have been hits.
Even at 10M away with my TX200 springer its noticeable....put mag on minimum shoot a group
Put mag on max and just watch that poi shift.
It was a real eye opener for me!
How's that helix working out for dialing? I put one of mine on a .22 that I'm fixing to spin like the wheel of fortune.

I am a FFP for everything except for 50, and 100 yard benchrest in competitions, then it's SFP

I just bought the scope turret label creator program.

WHY did I wait so long? 🤦🏻‍♂️
$28 well worth spent.
Configurability you wouldn't believe. Just genious!

NOW I'm taking my turret dialing to a whole new level!
It is SO FAST! 😃
