My grandfather has an OLD 760 that needs new internals.
he was telling me about it and how much he loved to use it back when it worked fine. How much he used it in his garden for the pests and that recently his garden had been lacking because his other slingers were too loud or bulky. So we talked more about it for a while. Come to.find out he wanted to try and mod it.
then he described what he wanted. I mentally noted EVERYTHING that he mentioned.
Went and snagged a brand new one for cheap. Then I chopped the butt down to the grip area while still keeping the under handle BB loading port and chamber intact/functional. Wasn't the smoothest grip, so wrapped it. Got a Buck-Rail adapter and silencer for it and slapped them on.
measured her out. Hmm...a little long for what he wanted. So I chopped the barrel back to where the adapter was up almost against the forestock area. Scoped it a few different ways...then I showed my grandpa lasers and red dots
he wanted those instead of a scope. No problem! Had an extra laser and red dot already.
so I grabbed them and made them work together on the same rail. Top of the laser actually lines up with the red dot being JUST over the top of the laser.
then i noticed that if i pushed the rear sight up, i could bump it up against the laser for even more stability.
Success! Tested a few more times.
Surprised him and showed what I had done. He said: you did this? Told him yup; try her out!
He slung some rounds through her and was ecstatic at its functions and ease of use for him.
He tried to hand it back to me
I laughed. He looked confused. Told him; it's yours now. And he went outside to keep playing with it
That was last year.
This year I saw my build sitting right where his old one sat. I asked him if he had used it to help his garden yet. He smiled ear to ear and said; this year's garden has been doing so much better JUST because of my build for him

He went on to say that he had never even dreamed of owning such a contraption. I couldn't help but feel the joy he was exuberating.
I'm even smiling while writing this
I'd never even attempted a build like this; but I'm sure I will make another like it at some point because even I loved testing it out.
so if you're in the need of a quiet garden pest gun or even just a lightweight compact pumper; this is the way to go. Just under $100... maybe less in this build made it worth more than any other slinger in my eyes to see my grandfather enjoy it so much.
