Cleaning the Bore?

Thank you.
The author says he keeps it well away from seals and orings.
But if your cleaning the bore, it is going to get into orings
Ballistol is extremely flammable, so I suspect that is cautionary in order to mitigate any potential damage or injury caused by a dieseling effect.

But I could be wrong so perhaps @hameditor could shed some light.

As a person with a Dutch background the smell reminds me of dutch licorice candy (Dropjes) and its the smell i associate now with my airguns...i love it (lol maybe im just wierd?😂) I would recommend the aerosol with straw, makes life easy , conserves it, and puts it where you want it.
If its flammable should I use it as pellet lube in my Ghost?!?!🤔 Hmmm...
Found this on Ballistol website :
WHAT ARE THE LOWEST AND HIGHEST TEMPERATURES BALLISTOL CAN BE USED?
Below 0° F (-20c) Ballistol will thicken but not freeze. Use less Ballistol in colder conditions. The flash point for liquid Ballistol is 125° F.
And this:
IS BALLISTOL SAFE ON RUBBER?
Yes! Ballistol will clean rubber and prevent it from drying out. Caution should be used when using Ballistol on foam rubber.

The bottle says it contains white mineral oil and a proprietary petroleum distillate. I don't know what a petroleum distillate is, but I'd have thought that my breech o-rings would be ruined if the petroleum component of Ballistol was harmful to rubber. Can anyone elaborate on the petroleum distillate component?

The smell is a subjective thing. I like it.

I hear Balistol mentioned alot.
But how are you apply it, is there a prefered pull through rope/cable?
And what about Balistol effecting orings and such.
Would like to hear your method
Piston driven (springers) air guns produce extremely high temperatures. It only lasts for a fraction of a second but what is the flashpoint of Ballistol? I love Ballistol for firearm internals and for cleaning exteriors on all guns. I keep it in both spray and non spray cans. But I don’t use it for bore cleaning airguns out of concern for detonation. I hope my concern is misplaced. Someone please educate me if I’m wrong.

I have not seen any issue with detonation using ballistol and as mention a LOT of airguners use it.

yeah, Bill, we need to see some new numbers from @Danman not those (Ballistol) HP tune in a can ones 😂.
You guys are killing me😂 I will fess up though...my TX200 is already messed up (power loss/accuracy decrease/HARSH shot cycle, and if that wasnt bad enough; louder).
Last time while shooting it I liberally (never a good word?) sprayed balistol on er. Well....some went right into the internals and yup she started dieseling 😵
If you know the TX200, it's internals are somewhat exposed underneath, so its possible to get it inside without even cracking the underlever to open the breech.
Admittedly....she was shooting a bit faster and smoking a bit. Definitely not the planned method of increasing power lol. Now it needs a clean and lube/tune more so than ever🤦‍♂️
@Waytoomany the flash point is 125deg F, so yup, she'll detonate in the chamber, but I have no problem cleaning barrels with it, even my pcps have been fine.

I guess the only way is to test the solvent and the o rings.. Experiment with a little in a cap and add o rings.. Wait a day or longer and test them for adverse reactions.. But it also depend on the length of time the solvent is in contact with them.. I use brake cleaner on my guns then lube then with Frog Lube...

has anyone tried Fluid Film?

also safe for o-rings as seen in the specs...and uses Lanolin so similar to Ballistol?
