Bore Shot- What Do You See?

Subtle rifling is not a bad thing. In fact, some of the best barrels i've seen are polygonal rifled. In which you almost have to know what you're looking for to even see the rifling.

Bottom line is still....how does it shoot?

In the BSA Union Jack review that I did a few years ago, I took a bunch of photos of pellets pushed through various rifling profiles. There's some close ups of pellets pushed through the polygonal barrel that is on my USFT. That barrel remains the best wind performing barrel that I've owned or seen or tested or etc. And the rifling is barely visible on pellets pushed through it.

I’ve read about lower profile rifling reducing drag and wind vaning. Like you, I shoot in the dark sometimes, as that’s when there’s no wind for me. But, I’ve kind of curtailed that after having black bears visiting my porch lol.

I was interested in the rifling, I remember bill saying that the barrel was a hybrid type for both pellet/slug. But I can see the way that conversation is going to go.

I don’t think it’s a bad thing to have more information and understanding, good thing PA has some info about it at least it’s a place to start.

And you note he says pellets are drag stabilized by the back end. If you go to the discussions here the experts claim that that is not Completely true. Personally ive been told that a land of .001 so as to have .002 grip on a pellet is enough. But then again if i showed a bore pic of my 22 barrel you’d be aghast.

That’s a lot different from the first photos. This barrel shipped eight days after they said it would, because they said they were doing more polishing. I’m kind of afraid to polish it anymore lol. Maybe, I’ll try polishing if it doesn’t get any better. I really like how polishing helped my Ghost .25.

You really don’t have to sweat the jb polish. Ive gone down to 600 grit on a couple barrels and it hasn’t hurt then just made the polish look better. If you remember the pic i posted of my revere barrel that looks like a polished car finish and thats factory.
