I'm going to be interested to hear what AoA says, because you are technically leading in a mistake and not just the barrel. I just ordered a borescope too. I should get it tomorrow, hopefully the results won't kill my weekend. I'm too curious not to look now.
There are some small enough. You'd just have to be a real glutton for punishment to spend that kind of money just to tick yourself off. lol Even I only just bought the cheapest Teslong borescope, $55 is enough to spend on bad news.
Any barrel builds up a little lead here and there that is not always the end of the world. I think you need to shoot some slugs that will really be the proof but i must say that i really didn’t see a lot of buildup on those marks across the lands. I wish i had pics of my 22 barrel you want to talk about lead build up the last probably 4 inches the lands were built right up with lead i did like 50-60 passes just there to get it to not build up so much.

If it shoots good, don't inspect It! Accuracy is all that matters. Ugly barrels can still shoot sub MOA groups. As a guy who has looked at and test fired too many barrels to count, shooting it is the only true measure of a good barrel.
I have a barrel on my desk right now that has 2 major defects in the chamber but it still has an average of .4" at 50 yards. I didn't inspect the chamber till after I tested it as I didn't want to skew my results.
I have also tested barrels that looked amazing and shot like crap.
Bill, I am sorry you are not having the best time with this rifle. The guys at AOA are generally great to work with. Give them a call and see what they will do to help you out.

Honestly if you straighten your pressure gauges it will probably shoot better
.....that drives me nuts i dont know how you can deal with that. First thing I'd be doing is tossing them out and getting a pair of accurate wika gauges. I remember your crazy good groups with this rifle when you just got it! Just curious....have you just polished it once or multiple times?

Just once. I did that because the groups fell apart without explanation. When I first got it, I pretty much quit shooting my Ghost because the Sonoran was so accurate at 100yds. Now I’m having more fun with the Ghost . I polished the Ghost and didn’t think I saw much difference in its accuracy. But, now I believe I didn’t shoot it enough after the polishing. I’m not giving up on the Sonoran. I’m miffed about the air bottle and the gauge. I’m not sure what to think about the barrel. When I got the Corbin press I started shooting a lot more slugs. The Sonoran does not seem to be able to stabilize them. I don’t get clipping with pellets, but I do with slugs and it’s not consistent. I’ve tried a lot of different weights and velocities and it hasn’t been great lol. I shot some 1/2’ groups with pellets at a hundred yards when I first got it. I don’t think that’s gonna happen right now. It’s frustrating the heck out of me lol. I have very good far sight, I don’t need glasses at my age. But, like most old farts, I need reading glasses, so the gauges aren’t too much of a problem being crooked lmbo.Honestly if you straighten your pressure gauges it will probably shoot better

I shot a few groups at 75yds with the Sonoran this morning. I swaged some 46gr slugs so that they’d be close in weight etc, to the 45gr pellets. The group looks really good, if I was patterning my turkey gun. I also shot a group with the AEA 45gr pellets, the group was tighter. I need to swage a few more slugs.

You do know a clean barrel needs to be shot some before it shoots its best right? Called seasoning.
Well Bill, I just scoped 6 of my pcp airguns and I am happily surprised that they all look really good, except for one.
The damage to four lands about a half inch in from the muzzle on my Barra 250z was all that I had. I am glad that I didn't know about it, because I would have sent it back. At this point, this barrel isn't going anywhere. It shoots too well to take a chance on an unknown. The rest of the bore looked really good.

But it shoots well. I have been using it to polish spots of excessive lead build up and it works well for that and it seems to improve accuracy. My 25 barrel is probably shooting pellets as well as they can be shot. I take that back don’t want to jinx it. Lol

You know, I had another surprise too. The bore that I thought would look the worst, looked awesome. My mrod barrel was so bad when I first looked through it with my naked eye that I figured to throw it out. I literally polished the hell out of it with an electric drill forward and backwards for over an hour. This was stuff that you just should not do. Afterward, I put it on the gun and shot it, and there it stayed. Super accurate pellet shooter. I figured that it would still look really rough, but it looked great. Maybe if I bore polish my 250z barrel at some point I will give that spot a little more attention, maybe not. I can't add to what's lost, and I don't want to end up with a loose spot either, and I never felt that spot pushing a slug through either. There is an order of business for working on these things and if they shoot well that's where you stop. The thing that I found really useful for the borescope was looking at transfer ports, and the breech oring. I have to pat myself on the back too, my bores, transferports and orings look great! It's good to know. I don't understand how my TJ's barrel on my Paradigm can look so damn good and yet after 30 rounds of hybrids I have to pull a patch. I saw nothing in there. That ammo is the dirtiest in the business, I wish I could find something else that shot as good.
EDIT: And I wanted to add, that none of my bores had any lead deposits or build ups. I shoot JSB and ZAN, mostly, except for the hybrids in the Paradigm and not coincidentally that's the only barrel that I have to clean all the time. I thought that my Gauntlet might be leaded up by now because that has had well over 20k shots through it, but nope, looks good! I switched off from using CPD's years ago and I almost have never cleaned the barrel since. I pull a patch every couple of tins, just to do it.
