PCP Any love for the Turks?

Never a good idea to attempt BS one with knowledge,,experience, AND credentials!
I was amazed how adamant they were. I was very polite and gave them a lot of detail and one response was "you are wrong!". I even contacted a German engineer I know that works for a company that builds high pressure vessels for heavy industry. Had no effect. The idea that you could just put a sticker on the bottle to alter its specifications was boggling.

As an aside, I'll dig around for the video of the Germans "testing" a tank. The explosion is epic. Submerge it in water, fill it in, I think, 50 bar increments until it blows up.

I have two Turkish rifles and both are exceedingly accurate.

This is my Reximex Daystar in .22. I shoot AEA 18.3s at 890fps and the rifle averages 5/8" 5-shot groups at 50yds off my bench with front & rear bags. The rifle is unregulated and I have my tune set for just the very top (flatest) part of the bell curve. I get 30-shots per fill with single digit ES from a fill of 2900psi.

Only modifications are a polished bore, trigger mod. and a cut hammer spring. These Reximex 'long' rifles have overly stout hammer springs. I modified the trigger to be single stage only. The trigger breaks crisp at 8oz. with zero take-up.

The Daystar is wearing a Fox 300. .22 model. Optic is a Meopta Optika5 2-10x42. Turrets are excellent and repeatable. I 'dial' this scope for longer range shots in the field.

In my opinion, these Turkish made rifles are an excellent value for their price.

Daystar out for a day slaying 'Sage Rats' (ground squirrels)!
I just ordered one Monday am. After the checks at Pyramyd, its set to arrive Monday afternoon. It should arrive good to go, as long as they actually completed the extras I paid for. Glad to see yours is solid hitter. Hoping our good weather here in Bama holds, so I can run it through it's paces when it arrives!

Good deal..., hope ya like the Daystar as much as I like mine!

Don't be surprised if there are a few little thinks you might have to adjust/modify on the rifle to get it working the way you want. The Turkish rifles are not as refined as the the top air rifles. But then they don't cost near as much either.

My pair of Niksan Ozark got exactly 1 required modification, rubber insert between the barrel and the bottle. Was getting a little resonance firing heavy pellets. Took me a bit to figure it out. Initially thought it was the pellets but firing same pellets from various other rifles put that to rest. Finally cut down a piece of moderately hard rubber and put it about midway down and the groups were the same for all weight pellets.

Regulators, plenums and bigger bottles were optional modifications.

Only rifle I shoot more than my Ozark-TW is my Snowpeak Max 1.

Ok, I've been shooting the new Daystar, and yep, its impressive to me so far. I will try to run it over the chrony tomorrow, but, had to have surgery again yesterday and am still pretty sore, but this weather is so good, I can't stay in bed and let it slip by, waiting on the rain to hit again. So gotta try anyway. I did take of the air stripper and replace it right off with one of Angel @ Redcorn's moderators. Its definitely squirrel head bustin accurate at 30-35 yards! Ask me how I know! These internet wire stripping beasties have went to far, so the herd thinning has began wide open.
What tweaks would you suggest BBGun? Just cause I own a plethora of PCPs don't mean I know a lot, other than cleaning, scope zeroing and shooting. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

When I first got my Lyra (mostly same as Daystar) I pulled the barrel so I could polish the bore. When I pulled the barrel I saw that the barrel o-rings were shaved from the sharp, not deburred holes in the block. So. I also pulled the air cylinder and found the same. I deburred all the holes, installed new o-rings and polished the bore. I did all of what I just wrote for the Daystar also.

Next, I went to the trigger. I like a single stage trigger so I modified the trigger mechanism to make it a very crisp single stage that breaks at 8oz. Too difficult to try and write in words what I did. But, it involved removing the first stage spring all together and adding a shorter and lighter weight spiring in a different location within the trigger levers to make the trigger single stage. Both my Lyra and Daystar have the trigger modded in the same way and both rifles have thousands of shots fired with no trigger failures.

I wanted to shoot 18gr pellets at 890fps. I wanted 30-shots per fill with the flattest shot-to-shot velocity I could get from an un-regulated rifle. After initial testing I realized the rifle's hammer spring is too strong to achieve a 'bell curve' tune with the weight pellets I wanted, at the velocity I wanted. So, I cut the hammer spring to 3.125" (stock was about 3.750"). Making the spring change got my rifle to where I could get the tune I wanted as described above.

My tune is a fill pressure of 195bar, AEA18.3s, 890fps. I get 30-shots with a maximum ES (extreme spread) of about 8-10fps. My first shot velocity matches my last shot velocity.

Beyond that I just lubed the bolt and checked all fasteners for torque. Also, added Loctite 222ms (mild) to fasteners that needed it, and wheel bearing grease to fasteners that need lubed.

Both of my Reximex 'long' rifles have the same tune and both rifles shoot 5-shot groups that average 1.5MOA at 50yds with many groups going into 1/2" and some groups even smaller! The Lyra is very slightly more precise shot-to-shot than the Daystar but they are both very accurate and reliable rifles!

Hope your new Daystar works out for your needs!

Very nice! Love that walnut on the Lyra! Unfortunately, you jumped in the wabbit hole a lot deeper than I know anything about doing. The mind follows and understands, but the physical ability just ain't there.
Are yours both .22 cals? My Daystar is in .25 caliber. Not sure of the fps yet, wouldn't you know today its fixing to rain buckets, and the wind is gusting 25-30 mph, so shooting is out. Prolly for the best though after the surgery Thursday.
So no simple tweaks performed on your Reximex's?oh well, I will post some 30 yard groups when the weather clears again, along with some FPS and pellet weight numbers.
I seem to have a huge attraction for these Reximex rifles. I think buying the unregulated Benjamin Akela was what caused this sickness. Its heavy, comparatively speaking, for a rifle of its size, but man, it sure is a great little hunter. And it likes slugs. So far, the Daystar reminds me of my Akela, at least in the way it shoots, and its accuracy.
My Niksan ELF .22W has a ton in common shooting wise with my Akela and my Daystar as well. It does the JTS 18 grainers @ a 866fps average over 3 mags, before it begins to drop off the edge, and it is extremely accurate. I've taken numerous trash pandas and armadillo's with it from my back porch to the back fence, almost 43 yards, and even laid catastrophic damage on a couple.of Coyote's Ive caught tangled in between the 2 rolls of chicken wire surrounding my hen house. Both Yotes got out of the fence wire and managed to run(limp?) Back into the woods, but not without leaving a whole lot behind. Those Hades pellets are really good for that!

Yes, both of my Reximex are .22 caliber.

As for a 'simple tweak' that you can work with. The trigger has no first stage adjustment short of changing the first stage spring to a lighter or heavier spring but the sear engagement for the second stage has an adjustment screw. Pull the stock by unscrewing one end off the safety bar and just pull the safety bar out of the block. Remove the one stock screw and pull the stock. You'll see the sear engagement Allen screw head at the back of the trigger set.

Cock the rifle and slowly turn the sear engagement screw inward until the rifle fires. Back that screw outward about 1/6th of a turn. Try the trigger for weight-of-pull and see if ya like the feel. If it feels too light then turn the screw outward another 1/6th of a turn, etc.

Reinstall the stock and safety and check that the safety works with your adjustment.

Once ya find the trigger 'feel' ya like, and checked the safety, then pull that adjustment screw, degrease and add a little MILD strength thread locker. Re-adjust to the setting you liked and enjoy a nice trigger.

Any way you choose to setup your Daystar I am sure you will enjoy it as the ergonomics of the stock are about perfect for a field rifle!

Enjoy!

The difference, at least with hatsan you can sometimes get replacement parts to repair your gun. The 3 Chinese guns I have it's sorry, throw it away and buy another one.
