A scope and mount setup that doesn’t take most of the adjustments to get on target. For plinking, a good 4xAO is all I really need.

So a blister-packed Gamo scope from my local big-box store might not be the best optic?

Mostly just sold the 2260 carbine over here, iirc. Build it under $500 easy. 2240XL, shoulder stock, and order a longer barrel from Crosman or the various modder parts shops.

Got the Hawke 4xAO mounted on the Cometa, using a BKL 1-piece mount. Parallax doesn't match the markings, but overall a great rig. Just need to sling it. Probably a leather shotgun sling from Midway, since it deserves a little bit better than a Gamo sling.
