Break Barrel The problem with Weihrauch springers....

...is that I always wait too long to buy one!

I started out as a big Diana fan (and I still am!) but eventually I got around to trying an R9. Simply because I stumbled across a .20 cal in the used rifle rack at a local gun store. Buttery smooth cocking stroke, stellar accuracy, great feel in every way. That particular one has a little buzz to it, but someday it will get some fresh guides.... My experience with the R9 has led me to .177 and .22 versions, and they are all dear to me.

Next, and years later, I bought a 35 in .177 from John in PA, almost on a whim. He hadn't tuned it yet, and I asked him to spare no effort when he did. And boy did he come through! The short stroke and fairly modest spring make for a fine shooting springer.

Soon after, an early 77 in .177 that is super stable and super smooth. Handsome the way few rifles are.

Then I finally got around to buying a 30, also in .177 and finding out that every claim about their status as Uber Plinker is legit, and then some.

Finally got into 97's, first a walnut stocked .177 and very recently a synthetic .177
What can I say, that hasn't been said a thousand different ways?

Recently, curiosity did me in again as it did with the 30, and I ordered a used 50 in .22 from AoA. Some say there's no need for it in the lineup. And I flatly disagree.
I say that it might be the ideal HW springer, blending most of the easy "friendliness" of the 30 with most of the capability of the 95, in a size that I probably prefer to both.

Finally, I have now taken my first steps with a 98 (in my case an older R11 in .177). A bench gun for break barrel lovers - all performance, no excuses. Plenty of good looks too. All I can say is "Thank you Wiehrauch!".

I caught the bug too and did almost all of this in less than two years. Now, I'm trying to catch up on tuning.

I guess that its just tough.when you've got an eye for quality. For rather obvious reasons, we springer guys are simply hooked on Air Arms and HW for their appearance and heirloom quality. For my next toy, I want a HW30S. Perhaps by a year from now I'll have saved enough to buy one. Orv.
