I’m just curious what the the average age of HAM participants is?
Everytime I have seen one of these done the average was between 55-60. Just from participating more the last few years I would guess that it is closer to 60 now. Now that pcp are so good and air supplies are easy to get, the numbers will be trending down, I'm sure.

I’m not so sure about it trending down lol. I hope you’re right.

They are so accurate now, and powerful, and easy to own silenced, that younger people will definately be making the jump sooner than retirement, going forward. The twenty-somethings are always going to want to make noise and shoot tannerite and steel, but 30's married w/kids and airguns are easier on everybody. It will trend to younger, they are just too much fun not to at this point.

I just beat the crap outta my left shoulder with my younger brothers 30-30 last night🫤. My tennis elbow (i'm 38yrs old) was flaring up Saturday night and now I just bruised my shoulder to boot. Prior to that I ripped a shot off with his HMR without ear protection....regrets. Fun but oh so painful, lol. He keeps trying to get me into firearms and I keep trying to get him into pcp, I even told him I'd fill it up for him with my compressor. I do think they will gain more traction what with all the benefits vs firearms.

Four years ago I sold over thirty powder burners because I rarely shot them and incorrectly didn’t think that I’d be able to shoot again. I kept a few including a beautiful Winchester 94 Wintuff XL 30-30 that was my dad’s. I would never have bought a PCP except for the fact my grandkids had difficulty cocking the Diana 48 side lever. I’m glad I did. I already knew the fun of airgunning, just not PCPs. My sisters father-in-law hunted with them in England and I kind of saw them as something for someone who didn’t have access to firearms. But truth be told, my firearms would go years at a time without being fired due to inconvenience. I really appreciate PCPs now. There is just no public exposure to PCP or any adult airguns for that matter. I’ve been involved in other hobbies that also have an age issue, i.e. ham radio. If there was more exposure, I’m sure more people would enjoy some backyard airgunning.

Or basement. Something nice and lower powered, just wad up paper in an empty box and blaze away!

Well, no doubt I should’ve broken those two age groups down in more granular brackets. But, I don’t want to expose anyone to “poll fatigue”, so I won’t add to or change the poll (yet). I’m 64 and seeing as I’m in my second childhood: more precisely 64 and a half. I’m neither proud nor ashamed of my age, it’s just a thang! But, it does say something about the hobby.

this is an expensive hobby for the most part even at entry levels so I think we see folks that are retired for the most part or the kids have moved out

then there are those that saved a bit or have great jobs and no kids or just lucky and they are a bit younger?

but a for me I think we are and will mostly see older people and its not about power its about sending power.
