A new thread will be started at the beginning of each month. First post will always include course of fire and rules as shown below. All discussion & scores for the month should be posted to that thread. Deadline will be the last day of the month. I will tally the scores, and finish that month’s thread with a scoreboard that’ll look something like this:

Course of Fire

  • 30 shots standing (offhand)
  • 30 shots seated with sticks
  • Option to participate in offhand only, seat/sticks only, or both.
  • All 30 shots for each position must be shot in the same session.
  • Offhand & seat/sticks sessions can be separate.

Rules

  • Distance of 10 meters (10.94 yards, 32 feet 8 inches) from target face to firing line.
  • Calibers .177, .20, .22 only. No power limit, any projectile.
  • Any sighting system.
  • Any version of the AR-5/# target. Any source (including printing your own) is ok as long as the scoring ring dimensions match those in the table below.
  • All scoring to be done with a .22 caliber plug. In lieu of a plug, the head of a .22 pellet can be used.
  • Highest ring number touched will be assigned as the score for each shot.
  • Seat/sticks position: Any seat height, no back or arm rests. Sticks must have V- or U-shaped yoke that cradles the rifle; no clamps or “hog saddles”. Must have only two legs touching the ground.

Posting Scores

  • Shoot & post as many scores as you like each month.
  • Mark one, & only one post with *** OFFICIAL SCORE *** as the first line of that post.
  • Can post scores as the month goes on, then edit the post you want to use as the official score at the end of the month.

The rules are fairly sparse by design. Not 100% dead set against some tweaking, but there are two guiding principles that I really want to stick with:

#1 - Keep it as simple as is reasonably possible to participate, regardless of physical limitations, current skill level, and equipment availability.
#2 - Keep the Match Director’s time commitment manageable. I do tend to get a little cranky when things cut into my shooting time 😂

Happy to explain my rationale for any of the above.
