Panthera I Jumped In!

I watched that video after my post. Looks easy enough. I bought the carbon tube, I’ll try with and without. Thanks
I'll be interested in your findings. To me, having looked at how loose the sleeve was and the fact that it was sold, told me that not gluing it obviously did nothing for it, or enough to make it a keeper. I should have tested it first but I didn't realize at the time how easy was to do either.

I figure the liners can’t be that bad. At one point Centercut and other competitive shooters were having Skout machine adapters so that they could use the FX liners in their Skouts. I know that is kind of a compromise I know, but it says something positive about both FX liners and Skout.
From my experience with a m3 and 2 mavericks if they are using the o rings on the barrel the sleeve makes it much easier to change and will keep it shooting as well as original. The o rings are a real pain cause they move around when installing.

That's what I figured too after reading so many comments over the years. I was never going to use orings on the liner, and I was never going to use an FX Amp regulator (any version), just Huma for me.

Yeah I can't see orings being stable under any condition to hold a barrel in place. Different temps i think could change the harmonics. The sleeves should be what they come with IMO

I really think you need to epoxy the sleeve on too. If you don't the barrel can still vibrate, just less, the sleeves can be pretty loose. All epoxied in, it seems to be a lot deader to me. We'll see when @Billm does his before and after test.

I never epoxied the sleeve to the liner and never really felt the need If a 700 mm liner shoots well with 2 o rings holding it ? Ive had a solid barrel made for my m3 and it shot no better than a liner and loose sleeve.
Yeah, but having handled the liner, and cleaning it, I just feel a whole lot better about how solid it feels now. Maybe it was just in my head, but I'm happy with having done it.

I don’t know. It shipped today, they told me it was shipping yesterday. No big deal the pellet liner, carbon sleeve and bag rider shipped from HPP today also. But, you guys have me rethinking which accessories I actually need. So, I’m going out tomorrow to get some bling. Do you think I should get a cord with a switch in it, or just get a light socket with a switch? What type of shade, simple white or Tiffany style? LED or incandescent?

I like tiffany.
I didn’t realize how much of a closet FXer you are lol. You started me down this path. Someione I shall not name (unless he wants me to) warned me not to take this path. The truth if the matter is, it’s a new air rifle and that will be fun itself. So, far I’ve only bought one airgun, that once I received it, I haven’t even bothered to shoot it. I’m anxious to shoot the FX. I would like to know what weight range of slugs the Panthera 700 might like.
? Hopefully the Corbin Press will come into it’s own 😎

Yea ive had a few fx guns. I like the new block or receiver however. The problem with the m3 and maverick as i see it is too many parts put together in a unsolid fashion that shift around as temps change, everything moves at different rates. Their barrels seem to shoot slugs better than most. Ive seen 34 -42 gr shoot good but the 42 is probably max in 22 don’t know about 25 or 30 slugs as most shooters of the panthera shoot 22. I think a panthera in 30 with a 600 mm barrel can do very well at benchrest with pellets. The receivers and stocks are very solid not prone to movement as temp changes. Just look at geharts results at world benchrest!

The shade is the tough part. It should cost the same as the gun, it's equally important and the expenditure really highlights the waste of it all. Lol!

Pretty spot on to how I think about it too. I would start the weight range at 33gr though because the H&N Precision shoot really well.

I don't know if anyone else warned you, but I know that I told you plenty that most don't talk about. I just didn't want to get involved in an open forum argument about my own thoughts. They are what they are. I will say that what everyone says about the accuracy has been correct so far. It is really accurate, and for all the complaining I've heard about the soda straw barrel liner, I wonder why my three times thicker barrels are not any more accurate if that is what is so important.

Well again too like my drs when they put that larger tube around the barrel it really changed its stiffness especially from being bumped.
