Break Barrel The "Best"? Weihrauch springer....

Last edited:
I love shooting my H97K: it's accurate and solidly built while still being beautiful to behold. This wooden stock just feels good somehow in my hands.
I don't yet own a HW50 . . . but it is tops on my list. It too holds onto a traditional wooden beauty. I understand that its light enough to shoot all day. It all comes down to the simple fact that I just love shooting. It can't hurt that Weihrauch makes their rifles to last forever. To answer the original question : the rifle of choice is my HW97K. Orv.

And the 50 for the win. Having aquired both the same day, I, hands down have shot more pellets thru the 50 without a doubt.
Yip, this aged well😊 I now own the unassuming, but oh so good HW50S. Enough power for pesting (2 down so far with it), light weight, and smooth. I shoot it as new but at the 1 year mark hoping to strip it down and have a look inside.

I own or have owned or have used the following:

1. R7 (still own)
2. R9 (have owned)
3. HW95 (still own)
4. HW97K (have owned)
5. HW35E (still own)
6. R8 (have owned)
Others? Lots of folks like the HW50, but I find it's a wallflower between the HW30 and the HW95. My 95 is tuned down to 13 fpe which is about what the 50 shoots. I think the 95 is a more robust design, so I just can't get excited about the 50. What does interest me is the HW77 Long. They don't sell those here and it seems that the 97K's popularity supersedes it. I blew the opportunity to buy one-shame on me. My collection is getting rather large for my old age and I stupidly passed it up. I know, you can't take them with you, but they are fun to play with until the Lord calls me home.
Update:
7. HW95-bought another
8. HW50S-bought 2, .177 and .22

Why my sudden change in attitude about the 50? After listening to all you folks and those in the UK raving about these, I had to see for myself. I bought the first one in .177. It shot 10.5 fpe and is superbly accurate right out of the box. I was so impressed that I bought another in .22 cal. This one shot over 11 fpe. No need to kit these gun at this point. They are harder to cock than I expected, but not bad. Why this gun is called an entry level gun is beyond me. I consider it a good all-rounder. Wonderful rifle and low cost.

Nice. So you like the HW50 better than the HW30?
Of the .177 and .22 HW50, which is your favorite caliber and why?

I'd like to have a 50 in .20, that would be the thing. The 50 over the 30? I think that I like the 30 better, but only able to have one? I stand by my original statement, I'd take a 50 every time. Thankfully, I don't have to choose.
