250Z Version 2, barra 250z hammer spring explination for newbs like me.

So, here i am, trying to build what barra already did. This is the v2 hammer spring insert.

This is totally adjustable.

You make this flush, with the back of the recieveror wherever you want it), and the inner one, becomes your fine tuning adjustment.

Or, you back it out, past flush. Because check it out, this inner one is the same diameter as the h.s. (see pic 2)

Barra length spring is bang on with the first version. Buuuuuuut, in cases like mine, they ran the outtet insert, waaaaaaay down, over compressing the stock spring right out of the gate!

So, you've got your insert, which gives you your starting point, and your main adjustable smaller one, for your fine tuning.

Judging by the threaded pitch, looks alone, one turn of the inner one, seems to be on par with 1/4 turn of the outer one.

I am flushing up, the larger one, and 1/2 full turn beyond flush, outwards, to the stock, and inserting the fine tune adjuster.

This just got so much infinitely better!

Yes it is. The v1, is a solid one piece threaded piece, so when people read, having the hammer spring flush with the reliever, as a starting point for their tune, it can be very, very confusing.

Bro, meeeee too. Kicker, there is a pin, that needs to be knocked out closer to the back, to back out the inner one. Teflon tape will help secure it, and keep it from moving when you don't want it to.

Have you thought about trying different springs instead of popping the pin and backing the main lug out? I cut some down to find something that works better. Springs are cheap...

Yes and no. I was typing the post below when yours just hit.

I can confirm that a shorter spring that's the same diameter has had a noticeable affect to the report. So far I just fired it without it being in the stock. But there was zero air waste on that shot. Going to reassemble it and do some testing now.

The second is the following from left to right.

Yeah, I could, but popping the pin out, and backing out the housing lug was no big deal. I currently have it 1/4 from flush, with the slug kit in, just f'n ripping it up at mid 9's.

Slugs, yeah baby! I def gotta get the plenum. My compressor just showed up, but id like to get my count back up by lowering the plenum.

That's my next pick up for sure. With tinkering, these are such a game changer compared to a springer.

Im single shot bricking birds straight blowing bulged spine from 50+. I really need to get some time to stretch this things legs.

I'd never take half the shots with my swarm already knowing its a notch like I do with this thing. Swarm is great for 30, 35 yards(my personal skill, im certain its could do more with more practice) but to be honest, I just want to keep shooting this bad mamma jamma.

Still one of my favorite guns in my collection! Just an incredible piece on equipment that's so easy to upgrade. I've got the Buckrail BR stock mod on the way i hope to have by Monday. I still need a heavier or bigger bolt handle but I'll have to wait a little longer for it.

Their stock is super sweet if youre using a set of legs, or bench shooting. Let's you get right up on it for full control shots.

Hunting/packing around, its not for me, I like having my cheek riser back, and the br stock has its stationary(meaning, it stays at the set distance from the back of the threads) regardless of the length of pull adjustment.

All the farmers I've gone to, absolutely think these are the bees knees for sure.

Hunting/packing around, its not for me, I like having my cheek riser back, and the br stock has its stationary(meaning, it stays at the set distance from the back of the threads) regardless of the length of pull adjustment.

All the farmers I've gone to, absolutely think these are the bees knees for sure.

Should be better than the one it came with which sticks all the time. Barra offered a free rifle replacement as they told me there are no stock parts available which was cool but no way I'm sending it back as it shoots so great! This Buckrail should lighten up the rifle I think as well. Looks great on the rifle though!

It looks killer, for sure.

Like I said, the stock one has its uses, that to me, far outweighs the br stock. And vice versa.

I myself have had no issues with the stock. I set its lop right out of the box, and it hasn't moved off of where I set it since.

Br, looks great, love shooting it from prone, or when I'm not tracking a random movement pest, set up on my pods. Not a bench rest shooter, but if I had a permission where I could set up a blind, id never go back to pack ratting this gun across the farms. I'd bait and wait.

It does lighten the gun up, but if youre running a set of m lok pods like me, its only noticeable, in my experiences, when I pull the legs off.

Not my 100% all the time, but can't recommend it enough. Well worth the price, well worth the anticipation.

When I ordered mine from Barra, they did not list a V2. I ask if I could upgrade my hammer kit with the new V2 version, but I haven't heard back. I like the idea that you can Fine much easier. My replacement barrels are due today.

There is a pin in the back part of the action to hold the outer lug in place. That hole is not present on the V1 of the gun. So it's not possible to upgrade. Pics 2 & 3 in the OP of the post below show the hole placement.

First thing is first when I got this rifle it shoot lights out alright loved it have video of killing dogs at 220yds! It’s great. Well I bought a chronograph and my issues started. Now it’s all over the place idk where exactly flush is on the hammer spring. It’s also has this extra insert with the hammer spring screw that either has issues coming out or mine is messed up I’d like to clean the hammer and maybe polish it well that will not come out and I’d hate to force it and mess something up. On paper this thing is all over the place with 40.1 gr Harper slugs it’s also all over not near...

That's awesome! Im sure youre going to love it.

Usually when I'm approaching new farms and am explaining how I will happily help with pest problems through humane, ethical, extermination practices using a quiet, moderated, high powered, moderately sized pellet rifle, I always get a what do you mean, and I take them over, open the case, pull out the rifle, and load a jsb hades mag, and tell them they are free to fire a few shots, to see, it is quiet, and powerful.

Every time, it's the br mod stock on it. Every time after a shot, or two, I get a 'that's awesome' and questions on what I can help with as far as pests.

Mice rats and most in barn shooting, I stick with pellets and reg set to 24/2500. Puts a hades right around 912 fps, outdoors, if its squirrels racoons, rabbits, pigeons, crows, etc I ramp up to 28-29, and throw in 30 grain slugs.

I have heard of some people getting a v1 when the second version was being circulated.

That could be a total blessing for some people, because most the reviews and a lot of people here that put in extensive work to theirs have done so based on the v1 platform.

That pin knocks out pretty dang easy. It would be more a diameter, thread pitch question.

I used a wrap of Teflon tape to snug up the outer while I adjust the inner one.

Works well. Now that I'm almost slug exclusive, I could even drill through the threads, and put the pin back in place.

I use the teflon tape on any HS adjuster screw/bolt. Has always worked well for me.
