Has anyone been able to get a none choked .22 good barrel from barra? Im on my 3rd one and all have been absolute trash. The original barrel has the worst choke I've ever seen on a barrel. The lead is horrible and the crown looked like someone did it with a drill bit. The 2 replacements have been almost identical. None of them will group better then 2-3" at 40 and that's the best I can get out of like 2 different pellets(the rest were all over the place over 12 different types were shot).

That’s the worst that I’ve heard. Almost everyone usually gets good accuracy with either JTS, AEA or JSB pellets. Usually the issue is with slugs. I’m not doubting your experience, just stating that it is not the norm. Are you shooting over a chronograph? Share some of your particulars, i.e. velocity, reg pressure, hammer spring setting, pellet brand/weight and any mods that you’ve done. There are several of us that were early adopters of the 250z on here and we all like to share our info and experiences. I’m waiting on another 250z now. We’ve got a lot of different user types here as well, hunters, tinkerers, target shooters and plinkers. I wouldn’t give up talking to Barra, once you get past the gatekeeper, they at least listen.

Yes over a chono, reg setting have ranged from 1800-2400 psi. I've tried jts, aea, fx, Apollo, hn, Norma, air arms, crossman, ECT. 15 grain to 24 grain. Fps from high 800s to around 1000 fps. I've cleaned the barrels, then When they were still not grouping polish them and nothing really helped. Tried 3 different mods and without all the same. I've had airguns and shot PB's for years and never ran across such poor machining as on these barrels. My cheap Beeman's have better barrels then they are putting out. Kinda disappointed really.

I have read there's an issue with some of the barrels, I went .25 for pest control, and I figured if I have to I'll get some valve lapping compound, a 40" piece of .22/23 rod stock, a bearing in a wood block, sleeve the rod with thin cotton fabric until its a fight in fit, slather it with lapping compound, and put the drill on the other end.

I've got a spare barrel on the way, and once I pick up a cronograph, I'll be making some alterations to the v2 version of the hammer adjustment system so that the rouge air slug power kit is a drop in replacement, like the v1.

Spare barrel will get compared to stock, slugged out to pick the better of the two, polished, and then tuned for up to coyotes, even those are a pretty far and few between issue.

If you got a machinist buddy, you could always ask him, if he's got anything in his arsenal of knowledge that might help open it up some, without removing the rifling.

I’m waiting for another .22. I’m hoping the barrel issue will change.
For sure man. That would be absolutely killer.

Truthfully between my buddy and I and beers, 150 pellet tin goes really really fast in this thing. And 22 is a better quantity price to be doing some plinking with. If they've got half the oomph the 25 puts out, I wouldn't question hunting small game, or pesting with one of those either.

Im going to sit in the corner and see what v3 does for these things, while I tinker around with what I got. If they hammer out their barrel issue, I'll probably hop on the .22 train immediately and do a hard mod on it for giggles to see how hard you can push it.

I have a couple of .25s, a .30 and and three .177s. I have thousands of .22 pellets/slugs, but no .22 right now lol. My ,25 Ghost and .30 Sonoran are both deadly on pests at 100 plus yards. But the 250z is fun to shoot and is great for guests. V3 is around the corner. I’m contemplating hitting send on a Pinty Buster tonight.

Yeah,a dedicated yote rifle would be pretty dang cool to me. I know the farms would absolutely love me shot dropping them for em. Ill probably be eyeing out a 30 cal for that, since most the time they're skirting the fields. Definitely would need some range and more stout slugs.

Welcome to HAM! I have a very accurate, non-choked, slug shooting, .22 barreled, generation 1, 250z. Now, did I get an accurate one, or did I make it that way? I don't know, but it ended up that way, so there is some hope. My breech lead was very rough and unfinished and I reamed it out myself. My crown was pretty good and the bore is extremely consistent when pushing a slug and my rifling is even. I do have some machined gouging near the muzzle, that I only found with a borescope, but it seems to have no effect at all on accuracy. It is ammo picky, but once I found the ones that work, it's amazing. Some people have been way luckier than others with their barrels, that's for sure. Hopefully Barra will get you a good one at some point. There is a lot of reading in the Barra thread about what we all did to get our guns shooting well, and a lot of details that I don't need to recount here, but I just wanted to let you know that it is worth the trouble to get it working right. It has become my favorite gun to shoot. Good luck, I hope yours turns out the same for you.

Welcome to the forum. My 250z 22 barrel is working fine. Its one of my most accurate rifles.

Barra has come on this very forum admitting barrel problems. Sad as they look interesting but it keeps me from ever touching one with a 10 foot pole. In my opinion a 500 dollar any gun should shoot a pellet. I mean how hard is it to shoot a pellet accurate at pellet use distances. I had a 300 dollar avenger when it first came out that would stack just about any pellet I fed it into a 3/4 inch group at 50 yards.

This is a very fair point. I hope Barra is still following this post and this point sinks in w/o them giving up on it. Barra is asking a lot, for people to buy this gun, before they get the problems hammered out. They should at least, in the interim, be quicker with barrel replacements. It's the least they could do for people giving them a chance, and probably the most beneficial act, in the long run.

It's not a high, or even medium high, gun. You get what you pay for.
To a lot of people it's on the high end of what they can afford and it's advertised as having certain features which not everyone got. The point is they know there are issues yet continue selling them with absolutely no solution to the issues. Doesn't matter if it's $50 or $5000 if you have a product that's not built to advertise standards and continue to sell that product that's the issue.

Boom. Drop the mic on it. I know personally, if i couldn't group on a 200 dollar pellet rifle, id have some bones to pick.

Hey man welcome to the forum! Barra has had a lot of problems with their barrels. I had trouble with my 1100z 22 barrel and the 250z model has its share of barrel problems also. Do they just have bad machinists making these barrels in China? I don't know but it's getting old at this point for sure!

I’m with you. For $500 you shouldn’t expect a $300 to $600 match grade barrel, but you absolutely should expect to receive a barrel free from defects that at least meets minimum design specs. The sad part is that the majority of Barra 250z rifles can hold their own against a lot of $1000 to $2500 air rifles out to 50-60yds.
