HAM Sniper
I don't know tons about the v1 of this gun, or the tunability.(lacking cronograph). But, v2, straight out of the box, WITH ONLY PELLETS(30.8G H&N)
I would give the accuracy a 7/10. I don't know much about the barrel issue, and if it mainly affects slugs, but I have no complaints with accuracy. I say 7/10, the 3 is on me, and my lack of familiarity with this pcp.
The trigger, stock, untouched from the box, 4/10. For me personally, I would say blade trigger, not great, for what I prefer. But, v2,(v1 may have been the same, im unsure) could certainly be cleaned up(I'll be polishing and buffing once the trigger kit arrives, so that I can upgrade all components of the trigger system at once.) Out of the box, it feels somewhat squishy leading up to the wall, and slightly gritty at the break. This just may be specific to this one air rifle in particular, but it's getting fixed ASAP.
Loading/cycling mechanism: I'd say compared to where I'm coming from, it's a solid 8/10. Magazine capacity of the .25 caliber, id love to see a higher count. I will certainly be buying aftermarket mags that accommodate that. Bolt. Love the bolt action, buuuuut, would far prefer a less 'toy' feeling bolt. Its action is okay, out of the box, and has smoothed out slightly(450 pellets in) but the knob feels small, a more substantial one would give a much more secure, and sturdy hand feel if that makes any sense.
Grip: 6/10 at a retail of almost 500 bucks, thumb rest. I know, and fully acknowledge that they are interchangeable, but cmon, kick in a removable thumb rest. And the stock, let's goooooooo! We can't say "mil spec and interchangeable" but then wink and put out wild threads. Yeah, let's hammer that out by v3 please, not for my sake, but for future customers sake. BR stock is 100% going to go on this air rifle, exceptionally quick.
V2 hammer spring(unknown/unable to rate) at this time, lacking a chronograph, i amount unable to rate the tuneability of this current version. I do have the slugs power kit on its way, and will be going to the hardware store to purchase varying springs, and multiples of them, to interchange, and cut, until a desired combination is achieved. Out of the box, and untouched, pellets seem to fair quite well(regulator is set slightly over 2200)
Regulator/consistency 9.9 out of 10. I at first, was checking to see if I had any regulator float, or creep every shot(first 100 pellets, yes, obsessive i know) first shot after topping off Crack a little higher/hotter it seems, but I'm hand pumping for now, and immediately after, I'm telling you, the speed at which these rats drop, it's like clockwork. Every one is the same. No more putting 2 pellets in one because the hot shot didn't hit where I was aiming.
Noise, woof, first pcp, let's start with that. And I was advised a tanto or ronin, but I'm also a curiously impatient person. Yeah, you for sure will want a moderator. The .25 has some bark to it. I get one rat, the rest kinda scatter and freeze, and as soon as I Crack off the next one, they scurry off for about 10-15. 8/10 on the noise. Redeemed by the threaded end.
Shot count: 10 out of 10 in my books. This is all totally subjective. I run 2 mags, and pump it back up with a hand pump while I let the rats come back to the kill zone I got set up. (2 2x12's making an L shape with hay ang grain scattered on top. I've got 3 around the loft/ ground level) and I can do 3-4 rounds of the sets before I top off. Which let's me get a snack, Gatorade, soda pop etc.
All in all, id say so far, this v2 is(fresh out the box) a solid 7.5 out of 10 with pellets. Lots of potential, and seeing all the goodies I may hold out and buy another one later version, when things like the stock thread pitch etc are addressed.
A word to those buying this pcp, as their first. Buy a compressor. Once you sight in your optics, you're going to find it very very shootable, and get tired real quick of pumping it up.
