I wanted to compare the Microstrike to the TalonP today at 36yds. I shot twice off the chronograph to measure the trigger pull and so the total shot count was 19. I don’t think I’ve ever had this large of an SD or max spread from the gun. It basically walked the pellets up the target. It was a very nice lateral group that was ruined by the vertical stringing. Why such a large deviation?

Wow. While I don't currently have a functioning chrony to get exact numbers on mine to compare, I know mine has not shot like that. Something isn't right Bill. Mine just stacks them in.

It seemed like it corrected near the end.
It looks like you may have had the beginning of valve lock to start with on the first 8 shots. Then your air supply was down and you only recovered some good shots in the second half. Fill your gun less next time and see what happens. I only go for 8 shots, so my hammerspring is set a little high and I only fill to 2800psi. If you want to do 17 shots you should turn down your hammerspring a little, put some orings under your tophat, and fill to 2600psi. I don't know where the speed would end up, probably avg out to about the same 750fps, just a guess. The oring trick seems to really flatten out the shot strings for some people. There is a lot of trial and error to get it right but seems to pay off for people who don't want to use a regulator and get more shots. I definately don't think that you are going to get a sub 50fps spread on a 17 shot group to be doing over 800fps average on the little tanks these guns have. Since you previously got 10-12 good shots before, and being how simple these guns work, partial valve lock from a slightly higher fill would definately be my guess though.

And there is the reason I regulate my AirForce guns. Fill the CF bottle to 4500psi, set the regulator to your preferred pressure, plink away with consistency day to day, week to week.

Pumacarl is probably correct. Stock hammer and spring are not overcoming the bottle pressure. So it could be your spring has lost tension or your hammer is binding.

You’re probably right. I stopped it right at 3000. I’ll try all of those tips. It was shooting single hole groups of three, each a half inch or so higher than the previous group. I was like wow, I haven’t seen this before. I wasn’t expecting 17 shots, I just kept shooting until I saw it starting to drop. I have a new appreciation for the TalonP. I was a little hesitant after this string to comment on the accuracy of the TalonP in the new thread where someone is asking about the accuracy of the AF guns. But, mine has been pretty accurate out to 50 yards or so. So far I’d say it’s lighter, more powerful, more accurate and about the same shot count as the Microstrike. The Microstrike looks better. I’ve been shooting the Microstrike with the single shot tray mostly.

I’m thinking it might have been slightly overfilled as I manually shut it off right at 3000. I honestly don’t shoot it much. I’ll take it back out tomorrow and lower the fill pressure and maybe back the hammer off.

Im not a fan of the AirForce aluminum 3000psi bottles. Too many variables and too few shots per fill.

I have multiple bottles and regulator/plenum set ups. Each with different pressure settings. I can get a big power boost just by swapping out the setup.

2800psi fill and it’s back to normal - thanks!
That's why im confused about the Condor Slug gun and the 250Bar fill, that ....would.... just make the spread worse?! It doesn't make sense on paper but, I still kinda want one😅. Apparently it'll get between 10-20 S-P-F as per the AF website, and it still looks to be an aluminum tank. Kinda wish they offered the guns without tanks as an option.

You can buy just the frame and build your own. I think the Condor frame is $300.

Also no reason you cant put a regulator, plenum and CF bottle on one. Of course that is at least $300 extra. $200+ for regulator shipped and, currently on sale, $75 for a 1.1L bottle.

But they are not selling the slug barrels. At least not now. I have a feeling that is only until the guns are sold off. Be silly not to sell them as upgrades to the current owners. Profit is just sitting there...

If you use a 250 or 300 bar bottle, then you are running a regulator to use that air effectively.

Agreed, but then your stuck with either a massive LOP with the stock tank and a Huben Reg or you slap on a 300B 300cc bottle and basically get the same S-P-F as the non reg'd 500cc bottle....I like win-win scenarios if possible. Ultimately id use it as a longer range slug-only hunting gun so either way that many shots should be fine. I just dont think shooting 100+Y with an Unregulated gun is an easy task....esp on starling sized critters!

LOP is adjustable
Acecare 1.1L fat bottle is only 9 inches long.
With the Huben Max-ATH total LOP is 17 inches.

Tuxing 0.8l fat bottle is only 8 inches.

Of course they require the angled adapter to tip the bottle down for cheek rest.

Using the U valve, regulator and 20cm tube LOP is 18 inches.
