Iv Got a barra 250z in .25 this is the issue idk when and where Iv got its all messed up but the hammer spring what’s flush 0.0 the fast I can get a 29gr pellet is 910 and that’s with the hammer screw completely out of the gun and turned in 2 times so iv heard flush with the back of the block thar makes it worse any vids I did find the hammer spring screw on mine looks different was there a little update idk but I just need to know where flush is

Not enough information given to get an answer that will help. What pressure is your regulator set to? If you set it too high for the hammerspring that you have, you won't be able to get to power. If the regulator is set too low, you will never get speed either. You have to thread some needles with this stuff. Read the threads here by Cantona256. He has done a lot of adjusting on his .25 250z. He will most likely pop up in this thread too. Northeastbeast and Bladefin, also are the other deep divers on the 250z. Read up.

Can you post a pic?

Barra updated the hammer adjustment lug and that seems to be the way all the new guns are shipping. My first one was delivered on 5/7/25 which has the original hammer design you see in all the vids on YT. The second one delivered 8/6 and I posted a couple shots of the new version here.

I'm at 2500psi running in the 930~940 range with a 30 grain slug, but accuracy isn't there yet. The adjustments aren't the same as the original version and I think it's because the lug is further in on the new design but they used the same spring and the lenght is the same. This is putting more tension on the spring when the lug is flush. I've backed it out so far that the lug is protruding almost the it's full length and still can get it to stop wasting air. Another problem with it is, when the lug is that far out the back, the action can't be removed from the stock without tightening it back up close to flush. It's gotten so frustrating I'm hardly shooting it right now. I started trying to tune it at 2000psi but the valve will not shut fast enough. So I went up on the pressure to see if that would to it. No love. I've even thought porting this one too but I'd like to get it running right first so I have a good comparison between the two.

I'm planning on trying some different springs to see if it makes a difference. If a shorter spring does work then this is on Barra in my mind. I do plan on reaching out to them soon, maybe even today.

If I can't get it working I'll probably step up the slug weight, something like 34 grain, and see how they run. It's either that or return it.

Yes that is the hammer spring iv got so ya that’s where I’m having a hard time you guys c 930 iv only seen 925 with a 29gr pellet and I was at like 2800psi and that’s what I’m running now I hunt alot so power is a big deal but id just like to get some more shots as well as have power id really like to throw a 40gr slug 900 possible without mods not sure?

I don't have a .25 so I like to leave the advice to the guys that do, and have worked on theirs, like Bladefin, Cantona256 and Northeastbeast, but I will say that I think you are going to have to mod a little to get over 70fpe with any efficiency at all.

Ok so this is the screw I have but still is the top flush or where the threads start flush and why when my hammer spring is so far back it almost comes out it than shoots the fastest not accurate no but I’m having a hard time grasping that

When you're seeing people posting faster speeds, it's the version 1 of the gun. Several of them are also modded.

With version 2 I believe the spring is too long for the new design. You're seeing the fastest speeds because at that setting because it's the lightest the poppet is being struck. But I'm betting the gun is still louder than it should be because it's still wasting air. If you have the slug kit installed, uninstall it. If you don't have it, then there's still too much tension on the hammer.

I'm going to stop by a hardware store today and see if I can find any similar size springs that could work. If I can lower the strike pressure to the poppet and see better results I'll be better armed for a discussion with Barra and I'll also post the results here.

With the slug kit, I don't think it's needed until the grain weight is 5~8 heavier than what you and I are shooting.

@Pumacarl I think you can help with this question, regardless of caliber.

I pulled the action from the stock to remove the hammer spring. Once I had the spring out I tested movement of the hammer and I noticed a great deal of drag and found that it was originating from the top portion of the sear.

The hammer and all metal to metal portions of the trigger were polished, except that top of the sear. So I pulled it too and gave it a little 3M treatment. Didn't help at all.

With that top bar of the sear out, hot butter would prove more resistance that the hammer saw. Once that part was back in the drag was considerably higher. The hammer will not move freely across it.

Could the spring in there be too strong?

I cut and replace springs all the time. Do as Bladefin is doing and take a trip to the hardware store, try a variety of rates and lengths, even twin spring setups, or short stiff spring for some free flight. If you like modding, this is one of the best places to start, and the easiest.

I don't think that it could be strong enough to give that kind of resistence if both metal surfaces were clean (like brake cleaner cleaned) and burnished with dry graphite. I swear by only using dry graphite in my trigger and hammer parts.

The other thing you could try is to not be too perfect with your 3M treatment, which I am assuming you mean sandpaper. If you get some 2000grit 3M sandpaper, put it on top of a soft enough suface, like cardboard or a mouse pad, so that the ends will round slightly when polished and flat spots won't happen.

Besides, what I wrote, I don't know what else you could do without going to a lubricant which does use a carrier, like moly, or a wet lube. Those can work, but you have to stay on top of them all the time, and are effected by temperature and dust. Let me know what you come up with, it is a curious condition. Thanks!

No, 3M polishing sheets.

No flat spots.

As of right now it’s all over the place accuracy it’s so bad I lowkey think reg or the ammo so got more jsbs coming but iv got the spring out enough that you can hear the spring like vibrate i know thats not right but i get that to fare in and too far out

Yes and no. I was typing the post below when yours just hit.

I can confirm that a shorter spring that's the same diameter has had a noticeable affect to the report. So far I just fired it without it being in the stock. But there was zero air waste on that shot. Going to reassemble it and do some testing now.

Here is the pack I bought in the first pic.
The second is the following from left to right.
Stock, slug kit, 3 rings cut off the Everbilt and 7 rings cut off. I'm starting with the shortest, if it needs a little more umph I'll stack one of the little springs on the far right. We'll see where it goes from here.

Let me know how it goes as of right now I’m on hold till I get more ammo does your guys reg change say I go from 2100 to 2500 it takes a few shots than drops than I move it up again than it normally status or do I have a reg problem

My regs were fairly inconsistent until I completely disassembled them, polished the washers (mostly the edges) and stem. Then I lightly oiled with synthetic oil. Reg Butter on the outside.
