250Z My thoughts on the 250z overall

Last edited:
I'm in the "noob" category. ;)

TBH I can't even remember how I found the gun to begin with. Probably a Youtube video. This is my first PCP and I'm loving the transition from break barrels and pump guns, it really is a lot more fun to shoot. I am fairly mechanically inclined and already done several modifications, but I'm a tinkerer that can follow instructions. I'm also not going to get into this as a full blown sport or competitions (maybe when I retire that'll change). My purpose is for coyotes' first and foremost, I'm just also having a hellofa lot of fun target shooting & vermin dispatching. I'm glad I didn't start at the bottom and can't afford the top right now. If I was going for the top I probably would have gone with a powder weapon and spent a lot more than I should have. I had no idea that an air gun in this price range could not only pack this much punch but be far more accurate than I am most of the time!

This forum has been a wealth of information with several people willing to share their expansive knowledge. It truly is a pleasure to be here versus the vast majority of forums I've been on. Thank you guys!

Between reddit and forums with tons of keyboard warriors, this site has been a breath of fresh air! No doubt about it!

Yeah as a fellow noob I have to echo what you said about the forums. My experience has been 100% on the forums. I love it in here. I’ve learned a ton and frankly I just like l talking about airguns so this has been a godsend.

It is certainly an interesting project gun. Our three takes are interesting too. You had slow problematic customer support, mine was a little faster and they gave me a magazine for fixing the gun myself. And then Barra sent me the wrong mismarked magazine, compounding error. You really should have been comped too. Northeastbeast seemed to have fast customer service, and one of his guns had a choked barrel mistake too. And yet, the three of us still seem to be happy overall. Between the differing customer support, lack of checking the product for defects before shipping, and flat out design errors, you'd think we'd all be really pissed off, but nope. When it is all up and running, with all of our different customizations that we've done, it is a very cool grin machine.
I'm really having a great time with my 250z 22 caliber too! Shoots like a laser and makes my other rifles jealous of it's accuracy. I notice a few of you guys are having trouble with their stock and buffer tube sticking in place and not moving. Mine worked fine until this evening as suddenly it just got stuck where i couldn't adjust. Talk about frustrating as it suddenly feels super glued together! After a lot of fiddling around with it messing with the pins i finally got it back to my correct length of pull and scope eye relief. I bought it used so no warranty, do you guys have any tips on how to tear the stock down and properly repair? Any tips will be greatly appreciated and thanks.

I know man! It's great to have each others backs discussing all things airgun related. Everyone's friendly and knowledgeable with a wealth of information and there's always so much you can learn just perusing through the forum on a daily basis as well!

100% tbh none of this would have been possible without the big Barra slug tuning thread we’ve had for months and months.

Trying to get the same thing going with the Karma EQ… which is why I’m trying to hurry up and find a good heavy slug tune for it. So the information sharing can really hit high gear.

The position stop pin was too long in mine and had to be shortened. You are not supposed to be taking it apart (and we shouldn't have had too either) so knocking the pins out is the only way I can think of to actually tear it down. Like I mentioned in my other thread, I used a 1" clyinder hone to open the stock up enough for it to be moved at all. I have no idea how they originally got that stock to go onto the tube. I was really put off by how bad they did that whole thing but once I got past it and refined what else needed to be done, it is a favorite shooter. What I am wondering about is how yours could have been working and then just stopped working? Mine, was never going to work at all, from the start, and I could easily determine why, so I don't really get how yours made the transition to stuck all of a sudden. Regardless of the how, it obviously fits on your tube, so the only thing that you should have to do is to shorten the stop pin enough to easily clear when you sqeeze the adjustment lever.

Just tap the roll pin out of the adjustment lever on the stock. The original pin bends under pressure. I had to tap it part way out and then grab it with pliers and work it out. I straightened it out and put it back in and used it for a couple of months before it failed again. But I’d just replace it with a roll pin. It took Barra over a month to send me a replacement pin. I still haven’t replaced it lol. Like Carl said, the stop pin length is probably an issue too. I’ve never been able to slide the stock off. They are not a smooth roll pin either, the pin is ribbed in the center.

When you press the button to slide the stock in and out thats where the problem is i believe. It has always been very stiff working which I didn't mind as it keeps the rifle stock from rattling while moving or carrying. Its like something wedged between the tube and stock to lock it in place. Once i get it pulled back out and in the correct place I'll leave it alone.

I'll tear it apart tomorrow and get it back into it's correct position. I appreciate the tips on taking it apart as well. Finding small roll pins locally may be a problem but Amazon surely has something that will work.

They’re not really roll pins. They’re steel pins with serrations on one end to hold them in place, one has the serrations in the middle of the pin. I think roll pins will probably work. I’d send Barra an email and ask for the parts. They shipped those guns knowing they were defective.

If you're going to take it apart anyway, I'd take 2mm off the pin and round the edge. You will probably not take it off again so make use of the moment.
