Sonoran BRK Sonoran 30

So I took it to an indoor range, that has a 100 yard range one week before the Oregon Match....At 100 yards, the 50's opened up, but staying in the EBR 8-9-10 rings.

Not bad, but I wanted to see what the AEA 45's would do at 100

Yeah that's 5 of those 30 cal pellets in the hole.....Yeah Baby!!!!! Oh and here are the Chrono numbers using the 45's

Let's talk EFT in Oregon....

Last year it rained and was windy. We even watched the hill behind the range get covered with snow and had a few snow flakes come down when we were shooting, but they didn't stick.

This year I was told we would have really good weather....Friday was outstanding, sunny and warm. We got 50 out of 60 hits on the targets the first day

Then Saturday showed up.

We got 52 out of 60 hits on targets. The wind was tough on both days switching back and forth. With a couple of bone head mistakes on my part we came in 6th overall. Not too bad for a virgin trip with the Sonoran.

This rifle is very comfortable to shoot off of bucket and sticks. The Semi-bullpup design shoulders nicely and settles on a set of sticks right at the bottle and stock area.

A couple of photos from the practice range to show where I had the sticks.

Many of you know I love Athlon Scopes and the Sonoran is wearing an Ares ETR 15-60 X 56......For EFT you can only run 32X so on the Ares I have it at 30X......But I will tell you, sometimes I drop it down to 20 or 25 just for a larger picture to see more of the target.....

Well I am done for today....maybe tomorrow I will let you know how it shot off the bench at the 100 yard pellet match.....

This rifle is very versatile in multiple disciplines.

Great results from both of you lucky Sonoran owners, but also, great pictures of the Oregon EFT , that looked like a great time and great view , aside from the rainy day picture lol. Anyways this is pretty rad. BRK has not had anything really true high power except the ghost, nice to see an addition to the line up.

Man was it nice to sleep in my own bed last night!!!!!!!

Now back to the Sonoran, the reason you folks are here.

EFT was in the morning each day. So during lunch I would run 2 wet patches and 2 dry patches through my barrel pulling a lot of flakes out. Then off to the bench....We all know the AEA's can leave a bunch of flakes.

Off the bench the Sonoran is the first semi bullpup I have shot. When I started this hobby, obsession, rabbit hole, whatever we call this addiction, I shot a full size rifle first, then a bullpup, and now the Sonoran as my first semi bullpup.

Day 1 of 100 yard bench rest. How do I know this? I am in short sleeves:ROFLMAO: Otherwise I had long sleeves under my team shirt and the hoodie sweatshirt over that......Take a look at that wind flag on my barrel.....

So day 1 I was very pleased with my score. 214 and I was in the top of the pack in my relay....Wind was very tricky, switching from left to right, right to left, then straight from your back...about every 3-4 seconds it would change.

If anybody has mastered reading the wind please help me out.....

Day 2 was a 206, not great, but top 3rd of my relay. If I understood correctly the top 6 of each relay would make it to the finals....If I was reading the board correctly that night, I came in 4th in my relay. It wasn't really clear until we got to the range on Sunday.

Sunday came and we had made it in the finals!!!!!!!! I was so jazzed. Here is a picture of my card in the 100 yard finals.

I see 3 bulls that bit my A$$, 9-22-25.....I ended in the bottom 3rd in the finals. My score a 205.

For those looking at the pellet scores and thinking “the top 5 were only 214 to 219”, you haven’t experienced wind like this. It makes the wind at EBR and RMAC look tame…. Not necessarily the strength of the wind, but directional changes, mostly shifting from over your left shoulder to over your right shoulder and back every couple seconds. Plus a vertical component that we rarely see…. 😳 ( I stole this paragraph from my team captain)

I will tell you this, the Sonoran is one fantastic shooting rifle. I can't wait to get more pellets downrange and spend more time with it on the bench....

Well time for another cup of :coffee: and the dreaded cleaning of all the gear.....

Great job and enjoy your writing Tony. Can almost picture it in my brain where there are sometimes swirling wind😂😂. Here I was hoping to see you again at Pyramyd Air Cup and giving me a lesson in wind reading👍🏻View attachment 13299
Barb and I will be there, but for lessons reading wind, don't hold your breath:ROFLMAO:
