Avenger Avengers posted good scores in recent match

This is encouraging for those looking to getting into competitive shooting. I wonder what mod were performed on those rifles. There appears to have been a nice variety used at the event as well.

We started our winter indoor 50’ Benchrest matches today and we had a couple Avengers posting good scores. I’d just thought other owners or potential owners should know that they are capable of holding their own against rifles costing 5-10x more. BTW a perfect score is 300 / 30X.

Avengers are amazing air rifles. I own all three calibers of the original style.

This is my second .22 Avenger (both Gen 1's). My first one had in excess of 20,000 pellets down the pipe and then it developed a leak, that I just couldn't get stopped. To compound the issue I broke a few parts disassembling it, which I could not buy replacements for so I scrapped it and bought a second one. Both have been dead nuts accurate. I'm NOT bragging but I have won our entire winter indoor match series twice and placed second once which is more a testament to the rifle than me. These things shoot FAR above their price points.

@igolfat8 Can a skilled tradesman fabricate the parts that have worn out that you were unable to find replacements for? Once out of commission, at least you can still use the barrels.

Threads were torn and galled from some sort of Loctite substance on the air tubes. I had to put a lot of heat on them to get it apart and they were too compromised to be safe. I did save the first barrel because it shot a little better than the second barrel but not by much.

You should see the crown, or lack thereof. The barrel's muzzle was clearly cut of with a chop saw and its not even visually square. Its crude but it shoots so good that I was afraid to mess with it.

And as such is my only complaint about the Avanger, pot-metal structures.

I've got 2 Avengers on my bench, 1 is stripped to bare parts, getting the good captain o-ring treatment, the second is an effort by someone that used slip joint pliers to take it apart.

It's going back in that same condition, I'm afraid.

Great shooting and congrats on the win! Isn't 50 feet just a little too close? 25 and 50 yards are usually the norm. Either way nice job!
Thank you. Yes, 50’ is close but it’s what we have available at our club. It’s trigger time and lead therapy for us during the long, cold winter months. We call it “fun shoots”.

Works for me. Anytime you can shoot indoors in the winter is a plus! It was minus 17 degrees wind chill a week ago here in Missouri and yesterday it was 70 degrees! Today only 58 but that kept me out shooting all afternoon with assorted pcp rifles i think i counted 500 pellets more or less during the course of the afternoon. Airgun therapy is what we all need and enjoy!

They are all bone stock Avengers except one has a Donny FL on it and a tweak or two to the velocity's.
I added an Avenge-X 22 tactical recently to my collection and after getting all the leaks stopped and everything tightened up and adding a barrel band and moderator it shoots better than the regular Avengers i own. It likes the AEA Center Punch 18 grain pellets so I've been stocking up on them as lots of the vendors run out of these as they are quite popular!
