Others Zelos, turn up the power ??

Right now I'm getting 948 fps with 18.1gr JTS pellets but only 847 fps with 23gr H&N Slugs.
I'd like to get those slugs to 900 fps.
Is this doable without losing accuracy?
And best way to achieve this?

I am no expert on airguns, but I think it is easy to crank up your power for the slugs with that gun. Turn in the hammer spring clockwise about 1 half turn at a time until you get the speed you want, if the speed drops before you get there go back on the hammer spring a half turn and turn up the regulator counterclockwise 100-200psi more, then see if you can go up more with the hammer spring but not to the point where it drops the speed. Do this until you get the speed you want. Pellets don't really like to go over 950 so you probably would lose accuracy on the pellet and would want to consider using a heavier pellet. The truth is that you will very seldom have the pellets and slugs printing in the same place on paper without readjusting your scope. So, I find it best to just shoot what is the most accurate. If at some point you want to turn the power back down, you must degas the gun first, then turn the regulator all the way in clockwise do not torque it down just till you feel it seat, then turn the hammer spring all the way out counterclockwise, then close the degas screw and relill the gun and slowly turn up the regulator counterclockwise until you get the pressure you want.

I think the main thing is what do you want them to do. If you think most of your shooting will be over 75 yards shoot the most accurate slugs if they are as accurate or better than the pellets, if not you are better off with the pellets. Slugs use more air so you will not get as many shots and they also cost more and lead up your barrel so if you are not shooting over 50-75 yards on a regular basis, they can get old fast.

Most people over think this and are way better off just using pellets unless they are long range pesting, competition shooting or just want a slug dedicated gun. This is a pretty good video of slug tuning the Zelos .22.

I have wasted hundreds of dollars trying to turn pellet guns into slug guns. What can I say, I'm a slow learner. Sadly few people post their test results so you could avoid wasting money trying to do what doesn't work. Good luck.

I pretty much agree with what @Chief55 said, but would add one point. If you are using a ballistic app like Strelok Pro you don't have to touch your scope at all when you switch from pellets to slugs. Each profile will have it's own numbers and zero distances that you will be using and referencing. This works easily when what you are shooting has the same windage setting for the slug and pellet. The only thing that you are doing when you set up the profile is changing the bullet and speed data and the zero distance. For example: my .25 shoots 34gr pellets at 900fps and has a zero of 53y; with 28gr slugs it shoots 950fps with a zero of 65y, this is with the same scope setting. You sight in originally with one type, then you shoot the other at the same distance and match the difference by changing your zero for the second round type until it matches what it is doing on your target. Now both rounds have their own profiles and you don't have to touch your scope when you switch back and forth.

If you need a cheap add on, c88-air sells an add on plenum, a brass and tungsten hammer weight that doesn't take much disassembly. The plenum will be a very simple install. Unthread the gauge after the regulator, thread on the 2 plenum parts and thread the gauge on the plenum. It's the same one as on my avenge x they sell and very straight forward.

Hylander, From my experience with the Zelos in .22 and .25, you should be able to get your slugs to 900fps
by increasing your Reg pressure a little. Here is the rub, your normally work your HS and Reg together to
increase your speed. However, I have seen little affect using the HS. It's like the increase in HS does not alter
the amount of air released. I see this as odd, as no other PCP I have acts like this just the reverse. Anyway, your
accuracy should be good with the slugs but your pellets will be really hot at 18.1gr. You may have to try a heaver
pellet to balance your slug and pellet FPS.
