What'cha doing air gun related today?

I have been trying to rein myself in on this airgun trip. “I don’t need anything bigger, better”, I tell myself. Yet, here I am in pursuit of a heavy hitting .22. While on the search, stumble across this on the website of a local store. Thank goodness they are open by appointment only, otherwise I would have been in trouble.

Dam. Only way get away with shooting that in my Wisconsin back yard is on 4th of July. They would mistake it for fireworks. That is one sweet gun

Pinty Buster quick thoughts.

I pulled the barrel on my Pinty Buster and inspected it. I did not check for barrel port diameter but what I did like is the barrel port is beveled so if there is a slight alignment issue, the flow shouldn't be restricted. A factory version of the port in my Notos barrel I had to fabricate. I attempted a small hammer weight but I'd have to get a shorter spring, which I don't have. I have no plan to port as I don't want to mess with the warranty. The barrel came CLEAN, like I ran thru it with a patch worm and it had no dirt(Hatsan should take note). I adjusted the hammer spring as far in as it will allow and I get 725 fps average on Norma heavy, 750 fps on H&N 15.9, 770 fps crosman ultra magnum 14.3. The grip is soft and feels great but separated at the top as nothing holds the rubber to the block. They missed on the grip. Removal and install of the barrel, and hammer spring was easy. I did not go any further. The barrel has 2 set screws atop, one more for the pic rail/barrel guard that sets into the barrel. The trigger grip is one screw from the bottom and the hammer adjuster spins off after the grip is removed.

The air cylinder for the Buster is almost Exactly the same size and diameter as the Notos a 66cc stock tube. 100cc is BS, no big deal it's simply false advertising.

3.5/5 Stars, if the grip was not sloppy and the air cylinder size correct it would be closer to 4.5 stars.

I shot the EscapeSS with the .22 barrel in it. The last time I shot I clipped the top of my chrono so that's not working, I am just about done wasting money on those things. I can see with my own eyes if it is shooting well or not and I can pretty much tell how fast it is going by the sound it makes now. This is the 3rd one I have gone through. I shot a bunch of different pellets so did not take the time to do any tuning. I shot at 30 yards today and the JSB 13 grain and the Hades 25 grain did the best, but many others did well also like Barracudas and JSB 15 grains. I forgot to burn the first shot when I switched to the Hades and that should be done with Airforce guns. It was also coming down the hill, getting low on air and I should have refilled the gun first, but I can see that with a full tank and some tuning they will be great. It was fun just getting out and shooting before it got to hot.

If it is really a third smaller, that’s a big deal in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong, I understand what you’re saying. I’m just jaded by all the BS we are fed. LOL. The grip is definitely cheesy, but not a deal breaker.

It’s always fun to get out and shoot a few good groups.👍

100% its not 100cc if umarex is accurate. Radius and length of the tube are Very Very close to identical. The regulator is in the air tube in a diagram breakdown I seen, just like the Notos. The fill end is the same size, same basic set up.

Turned the regulator up to 2100 on the Nova Liberty 177 and with the larger plenum a 200 psi adjustment just pulled speed up 100 fps. Shot a mag of jsb knockout 10.03 at 1060-1046 fps. Jsb beast 16.2 980-960 fps. Will back it down a bit. Accuracy wasn't great but wasn't horrible at 20 yards. Man those jsb 10.03 hollow points really expand on the stainless steel and have a lot of energy and on Impact. I love the versatility of the Fatboy. Low and medium power is great and adding the short extension on higher power with the option to switch ends so it carries .177 to 30 cal, swiss army knife and very quiet.

I ran out 1 more time with it shooting jsb beast 960-945 and it was pretty accurate at 20 yards. Ran 20 shots through, 4000 to 3000 psi. I'll have fun testing this for longer range this upcoming week and can't wait!

Just to be clear, I wasn’t doubting you. I don’t know the specs of the Notos. But, the Notos and the Buster are both based upon the SPA PP750 and share the same cylinder, from what I understand. I read it on the internet and so I know it’s true 😂🤣😔

From Kevin in previous conversations, their guns are own design/build, not SPA.

If that’s true then they’re copies. But, I have my doubts that they have their own manufacturing. Too many similarities between some of their models and other models made for other Brands by SPA. But, I guess it’s possible. If they do have their own manufacturing capabilities, they need to whip their production control into shape, because that would mean they have control over when products are completed and shipped and should be able to give more accurate shipping estimates.

Idk about that Papa. Their guns seem to be slightly modified SPA models. Which isn't a bad thing. My Buster and Striker are two of my favorite budget airguns. Especially since I bought them before the price increases. My major concerns about doing business with Pinty is dealing with people halfway around the world who may or may not understand English and their hit or miss quality control.

I have messaged Pinty through the site here and have always received a prompt answer from Kevin and the staff

Packed the .22 Buster, Notos, the .177 Liberty and .25 max 1 in one rifle bag!! (had to remove the butt stock on the liberty to fit).

I was going to bring the .22 liberty minus the wood stock and use the .177 stock but the last few times I chronographed it's unhinged. Shooting like the regulator isn't working. So no reason to carry that down as it needs work. Speeds go from extremely high and work it's way down with every shot. I haven't messed w rebuilding a regulator and I'm guessing that's what's going on???

I have some new targets to bust out down there.
I shot the 14.66 field target trophy's out of the buster before I packed it and it likes the pellet speed wise. A mag ran 792 to 781 fps. The silent thunder ordinance Pugio isn't as quiet as I thought with higher speeds but the buster is Loud without a moderator so it will suffice. It is extremely quiet with both Libertys but they have air strippers in the shroud.

3 years ago around this time I gave up drinking as I was ruining my life and body. I quit before it was too late and feel very fortunate. So Independence Day is a little sweeter for myself as it has more meaning. I'm extremely grateful and fortunate for the time I have now. I'm very happy to spend it with family swimming creeks, exploring a national forest and shooting for no reason but to celebrate life and it's joys.

It's not like they have a customer service phone number. Prompt, kinda, yes, usually within 24 hrs through their customer service email system. Until Pinty hires people here in the U.S. and improves their quality control, I'll take my business elsewhere.
