After a 7.5hr drive, I got home from my 4 day Caribbean cruise. That was my sacrifice in exchange for peaceful airgunning. I managed to change the stock on the Sonoran and go out and shoot a few 100yd groups with it. I haven’t fired the Sonoran in a while and today I shot it cold. I just threw it on my homemade front and rear rests using a bag rider. Fired a few sighters, because the last time I fired it I adjusted the scope for wind and didn’t change it back. First shot was a little low, but it’s been sitting on the table since the last time I shot it. Then the SD tightened right back up. It was shooting near MOA every shot, except for a few fliers and a small, right to left gust. I didn’t have any wind indicators and so didn’t adjust for the wind. I don’t give the Sonoran enough credit. The BRK SD beats the FX Panthera MKII hands down. It also beats it when shooting the first 3 or 4 shots. As mentioned, the first shot after not being filled or shot for a couple of weeks is low with the Sonoran. With the FX the first few shots are squirrelly. I shot four groups totaling 25 shots with an average group size of 1.18 MOA. The trigger on the Sonoran doesn’t come close to the trigger on the Panthera MKII though. The last time I measured the trigger on the Sonoran, it was around 8 or 9ozs. Today it had crept to 15.8ozs and was painful to shoot. The Panthera MKII trigger can easily be adjusted below 8ozs.
I sure wish there were aftermarket trigger groups available for air rifles. My last AR build had a nice drop-in Timney. Wouldn’t that be nice to be able buy and drop-in a nice match trigger?

Picked up some .22 ammo at AoA and online sales - JSB Hades, NSA closeouts, ZAN closeouts. So, more testing and just fun for this weekend. Bonus, another customer at AoA just so happened to be a small, local seller of knives and had a knife that I wanted, but it was always too expensive. Sold it to me for $125 below retail. It was a good day.

It’s the Benchmade Saddle Mountain Skinner. Full disclosure, the gentleman stated he procures and sells factory seconds and discontinued knives. This being a discontinued model of the line. Always was $250+ when I would check on them online and in stores. I was included in the conversation already in progress between this guy (who was waiting on his new blaze orange Ghost .30 Nice!) another customer and the staff. He said he sold knives, pulled out a few he had with him, and offered it to me when I said how much I liked it. For $100! Uhm, yeah!

Thanks Chris! Yes, the Benjamin is the one on the left. Not sure about mounting red dots, but anything is possible these days with 3D printers.

I only get pellet pistols, and I lean towards the German-made for better accuracy/quality. Baretta or Walther replicas under Umarex are pricey, but I bought mine used from AoA.

Just some shooting off the bench today. Might shoot my Falcon FN19 this morning. For sure will shoot my 250z and my Daystar.

I enjoy setting out both my wind flags/vanes and practicing hold-offs for wind compensation. Really helps in real hunting situations. The more you practice and learn wind off the bench the higher your chances of correctly 'guessing' wind holds for hunting. I'll never get it correct every time but just getting the 'feel' from bench shooting improves my odds considerably.

Our area is overrun with 'tourist' for the holiday weekend so I'll be sticking around home until they're all gone.

Practicing wind holds is one of the best things you can do to improve your hunting in real world field shooting.
