Was thinking about one of these as a fun gun. Was wondering while walking about plinking, how does one not lose the ejected shells? I like to tale my airguns hiking and in my boat.

We'll yes they are definitely a fun gun to shoot. But yes - finding the shells- that would be an issue outside of a controlled range environment.

Agreed, the idea is genius. I have the old Walther version where it uses a rotary clip.Lever action, plenty of power for a CO2 rifle . Superior accuracy, good trigger, just an excellent gun. I've used it for ratting and just giggled for hours. However if I had to pick up used shells off the feces infested stable floor, I don't think I'd be able to put those shells back in my pocket- or even look to hard for them

Really wish they would have kept making that one. They could have used 2 12gr cart’s instead of the 88gr. It was pricy to survive though

Trying to convince a friend to buy one as practice for our annual bear hunt. He carries a Winchester 94, so it should work great for him.

So how does this gun and the Barra C02 Lever gun compare

Not sure if I can be counted on a comparison, having only read about the Barra. Own the Walther version, the one that uses two 12 gram co2 cartridges. As I mentioned, its very accurate, quite robust, real wood and steel. I've used it for airgun silhouette's (we have a sub 12 ft/lb version along with 20 ft /lb and unrestricted categories) where the iron sights- easy to adjust and use- allow me to contend with any other iron sighted airgun at the event.
There used to be a barrel mounted scope mount available for it, but that didn't make sense to me- the iron sights are fine for the distances the rifle is intended for. I bought it used for around $300 in 2016 (!) and it hasn't missed a beat.
Chrono results with w H&N wadcutters, 8-ish grain, is 655 fps average at 70 degrees.
Every couple of years, the horse farms around me have an infestation of voles. Like Cicada's, they emerge by the hundreds, popping up here and there in the grass, in a small area.
Using the Walther as god intended, stroking the lever as fast as one can, is mighty fun and rewarding when you roll over one of the ground destroying varmints.
Night time ratting, in chicken and pigeon coops, where seed is gathered on the ground is great entertainment as well.
Hit the flashlight and shoot as fast as you can, wadcutters dispatching and ventilating rats as they scurry for cover.
Won't ever sell this rifle.
I hunt with a Marlin lever action .357, using special Buffalo Bore rounds for deer and bear. Took a 200+ lb sow last year, one shot, off hand at 40 yards.
Practicing consistently with the Walther gives me confidence with the Marlin....
The Barra may be the same- it's the only one you can currently purchase new....

I really enjoy my Seneca Eagle Claw carbine. It is hunting accurate, powerful and fun to shoot. The down side is it is a bit heavy but most of the powerful airguns are that cost less than $1,300.

After a 4000 mile road trip to Colorado and Dallas for the NRA annual convention, I stumbled on 5 Barra 1866 Jr rifles at clearance prices. These are not the models with the side loading gate and cartridges. These are the models that are ideal for kids to try and see if they like shooting. These are multi shot BB or single shot pellet rifles that use 1 lever action pump to propel projectiles @ 350 FPS. I am in the process of designing a laser mount targeting sight that will be capable for kids to shoot from 1-10 yards and successfully hit 1/4" beads. These rifles will be used as raffle type door prizes. I am fortunate to run an air gun range for our club and I specialize in teaching new shooters how to shoot precision with low-cost air pistols and rifles.
