Back in 2021, HAM brought you news of STUD pellet loaders and feeders. Now we’ve had a chance to try the STUD Magazines for FX Impact – they work really well!
STUD magazines for FX Impact are available in the full range of calibers from .177 to .357. Capacities are as follows: .177 – 34 shots, .22 – 28 shots, .25 – 25 shots, .30 – 21 shots and .357 – 18 shots.
The STUD magazines are a direct replacement for the factory standard “side shot” magazine and work with any FX Impact Mark 2 or later.
One obvious operational difference is that the STUD magazines do not require the “twisting” step of the factory magazines before removing the lid. The STUD mags have magnetic catches on either side instead.
There’s also a “remaining shots” indicator to help the shooter know when it’s time to reload.
Doug Hepler, STUD’s owner explained to HAM that these new magazines have been tested extensively to confirm reliable operation with all slugs and pellets up to 12 mm (.472 Inches) in length.
He also explained the benefits of the taller center rotor and improved drive spring in reliably and consistently indexing even the heaviest slugs.
Doug is particularly proud of the improved precision of indexing that’s provided by the incorporation of a Class 2RS ball bearing in the main rotor. This ensures precise positioning of every pellet or slug as it’s pushed through the mag into the barrel when loading.
If a pellet is not pushed into the rear of the barrel with absolute precision alignment, he says, the pellet could be cut or damaged, impacting (Groan!) accuracy.
STUD loaders also work with current-production STUD pellet sorters and magazine loaders. There may be some incompatibility with some earlier “Direct To Mag” loaders, but – if so – STUD will make a no charge modification for you. That’s a very fair solution!
