Others Received My Microstrike .22 Today

I think I’m going to contact PA. I went out and shot a few small groups at 101 yards with the Ghost, just to make sure it’s not me. I’ll probably ask for a refund and wait for something else.

Sounds like a solid plan. You did everything you could to make it shoot correctly. I just picked up an excellent Reximex RPA from Airgun Depot .22 with laminated blue wood grips. I highly recommend it. Dead nuts accurate and beautiful too. Lots of info about it on YouTube.

My Microstrike went back yesterday. I couldn’t decide what to do, as I like the actual airgun and thought it would be perfect for dealing with the Dillo that has returned. But, with the encouragement of several trusted airgunners I decide that I will wait and see if they change the barrel or try another caliber. In my opinion it has a lot of potential, but it’s not going to reach it with a barrel with those dimensions. I pressed another plug into to breech and pushed back out via the breech and it is definitely undersized. I really think that there is going to be one more airgun purchase for me and I will have to wait for it: Black wolf.

Interesting data point here ...
I've slugged barrels from 4 different .22 1st generation Taipan Veterans and they all had groove to groove measurements (impressed rifling marks, so made by the lands) in the 0.213-0.214 range. And Veterans are notorious for being very accurate guns. Those .22 Vet barrels were all stellar with pellets no heavier than 18.13 grains.

Those small measurements are choke-induced with the Vets, as the rest of the bore is usually around 0.216-0.217.

.2126 at the breech, not anywhere near where it would be choked. It has reasonable accuracy, I doubt it can reach its full potential. But, that’s just my opinion and no real way to prove a negative. Someone else posted that the barrel is not choked, no idea if that is correct or not. But, they did not bother to recess the crown of the barrel. It is interesting that YouTubers tested the Microstrike at 35 or 40 yds, but tested the Alpha at 50yds. It’s kind of similar to the Sub-MOA barrels with the tooling marks the full length of the lands: the barrels are still accurate, but do they reach their full potential?

I missed the 30 day return on my Micro and PA says tuff , Its all yours ,,
I got three new guns all at the same time , Micro, Slash, and Buster,,
Big mistake ,,
Mike
I sent the Microstrike back just in time. I ordered a Buster almost a month ago. Supposedly three have been shipped to me, the first one disappeared, the second one made it 3/4 of the way and FedEx rerouted it back to Pinty. FedEx states that they have the third one, but it has not shown any movement. The Alpha is supposed to be here Saturday now. I only bought the Alpha as it’s supposed to be based upon the same platform as the Notos, but with an added regulator. I swore after the Microstrike, I wasn’t going to buy any more airguns for a while and here we are.

You will like the Buster, I have the 22 and I rate it right with the PP750 and PP700 and thats a pretty high rating for a china pistol, I don't get past 25 to 30 yards with my red dot equipped pistols with my poor eye sight,, I also refuse to put a scope on a pistol, Scopes are for rifles not pistols ,,, Thats just me,
Mike

I think this airgun should be compared to the Notos and the BRK Pathfinder and Atomic.

No way it compares… You own BRKs, does the Microstrike compare? Add up the price of all three of your recent acquisitions = Pathfinder XR, no fiddling or fussing. Unbox, scope and get to shooting tiny groups at the distances you describe. 100 yards is seriously impractical for these small PCPs. For plinking fun? OK, but for shooting tiny groups?🙄 The MicroStrike may compare in form factor to the Atomics and Pathfinder. But the rest of the package is severely lacking in comparable quality and performance. But how could it compare at such a low price? Was out murdering starlings with my Atomic XR today. Going back tomorrow for more…🙏

I don’t have a Pathfinder or Atomic and I wouldn’t try to compare them to a $279 Alpha. But, the Alpha is an outstanding gun out of the box for the price and stands on its own merits. I think it will have its own little following. I even put its stock moderator back on. The only Starlings I ever shot (50 years ago) were with a sub 12 .177. I would think the Alpha at 25fpe would be good to abiut 60yds. It definitely has the accuracy at 60yds.

None of these Far East compacts compare to the quality of the BRKs lol.

@Billm I was just re-reading this thread because @Northeastbeast just got one of these guns (sparking my renewed interest), and he had previously gotten a choked barrel in one of his Barra 250z's (by mistake from SPA) and your whole problem with the Microstrike reads like they cut a barrel with a choke on it and used the choked end for the breech. Like a late Friday build, or early Monday hungover job, gone wrong. I wonder if there is just one dumb bunny doing things wrong on the production line that no supervisor is catching. I don't think that a bore as off as yours was simply a wild production tolerance, but rather it was a full fledged screw up.

Could be. Someone else posted the same issue on AGN. I know there was no machining on the crown, it was just a 90 degree cut., no recess. This happened when pushing a slug in the muzzle. It literally skinned the slug. I agree 100% with what he said about the build quality, it was very nice. The accuracy between it and the Alpha were polar opposites, in favor of the Alpha.

I think on some guns, they don't touch the crown, especially if it's not seen inside of a shroud. My Gauntlet had no work done to it, and after I shot it, I have never touched it either. I don't mess with success, but if it had shot wonky it would have gotten crowned fast.

But, if your barrel was shaving that much lead just chambering the round, there really wasn't much chance of it shooting very well anyway. It's a shame to have your time wasted by something like that, we can't get refunded for that.

My M/S fell apart while shooting, The front screw buy the trigger guard came loose, While I had it apart LOL, I pushed a Hades pellet through the barrel, didn't feel any different than my Taipan Mutant , That's the only other barrel I pushed a pellet through looking for a choke, Way you guys were talking I thought the pellet was going to get stuck,
Maybe I got a good 400 dollar barrel, IMG_2688.webp
