Now There’s A JTS AirStryke Carbine

JTS AirStryke Carbine

Just a few weeks ago I saw a new JTS AirStryke Carbine at the IWA OutdoorClassics show in Germany. In that report, I said that it should be available in the near future.

Now There's A JTS AirStryke Carbine

Well, that was a slight under-estimate. It’s already in stock and available for sale at Pyramyd AIR today!

As it’s name implies, the JTS AirStryke Carbine is a shortened version of the HAM Gold Award-winning AirStryke.

This carbine model features an adjustable tactical stock. This provides an adjustable length capability to provide a customized length of pull for maximum comfort for each shooter.

The overall length is 33 inches, down from 41 inches of the original AirStryke, and the weight has been reduced from 7 Lbs to 5.1 Lbs. This makes it easier to carry and maneuver.

In addition, the Carbine has a cheek riser that adjusts to four different height settings, and it has an AR-style grip with ridges on the front and back for a secure hold.

As with the full-length AirStryke, this carbine version includes open sights – an unusual provision on any PCP air rifle.

However the rear sight is different from the rear sight of the full-length AirStryke. It’s mounted at the rear of the receiver and has click-adjustable windage with two “flip over” choices for elevation – just like an M1 Carbine firearm.

Up-front, there’s an unprotected blade front sight. Plus the barrel is equipped with a 1/2-In UNF thread under that cover. This allows a dedicated airgun silencer to be attached where legal.

Filling with High Pressure Air is courtesy of a capped “Foster-style” quick disconnect at the front of the tube. Maximum fill pressure is a hand pump-friendly 3,000 PSI, a fact that will be appreciated by many buyers.

Even better – in my opinion – is that the clear, well-marked HPA pressure gauge is set to be read from the side of the gun. No more “looking down the barrel to read the gauge”.

This is really good and shows that such a feature can be incorporated in even a value-priced PCP air rifle like the JTS AirStryke Carbine. The gauge itself has a clearly-marked faceplate, combined with an obvious red, overfill-indicator zone. Well done JTS!

JTS AirStryke Carbine

Available in .22 caliber only, this carbine is slated for 30 shots per fill. The specs also call for a Muzzle Energy of 20 Ft/Lbs.

However – as this figure was calculated using performance from 11.9 Grain pellets – the actual power capability is almost certain to be higher when using heavier ammo. I’m guessing it will peak at around 25 Ft/Lbs when shot with 20-plus Grain weight pellets.

So, for all shooters who bemoan the lack of open sights on PCP Air Rifles, JTS is giving you not one but two choices. Choice is good!

Love the idea of it, but, being an open sight guy, why is the rear sight a notch and not a peep. Rear notch (blade) sights need to be be further down the barrel to get the proper sight picture. Reminds me of the Crosman 2260. The notch is useless yet flipped to the peep is ok Am I missing something here?
