Now there’s A New Beeman Chief PCP air rifle. The Chief III Plus-S was launched at the 2026 SHOT Show and joins the company’s range. In fact, there’s now as many as six different Beeman Chief models available on the Pyramyd web site!
The original Beeman Chief – now designated the Beeman QB Chief – was tested by Hard Air Magazine back in 2017. We liked the gun and it earned a HAM Gold Award. However, it has an unregulated single-shot bolt action and time has moved-on.
Surprisingly, the “QB Chief” is still available on the Pyramyd website, together with more recent, magazine-fed models like the “Chief II”. In fact, all Chief models are priced very similarly at between $199.99 and $249.99.
The Chief II is available in both wood and synthetic stock versions. Apart from the magazine feed, it also has side-lever cocking.
Now the newly-announced Chief III Plus-S combines these attributes with a regulated HPA supply. The regulator is set to 1,450 PSI, compared to the maximum fill pressure of 3,500 PSI.
The result is a flatter shot curve, together with – the manufacturer states – an increase in the shot count per fill. These are good things!
As with other Chief models, the new Beeman Chief incorporates open sights, making it an attractive choice for those shooters who prefer “opens” to optical sighting systems.
The rear sight is adjustable for both windage and elevation, as you would expect.
The black synthetic stock – hence “S” in the name, probably – is well-shaped with lots of stippling on the forend and pistol grip for adequate grip in inclement conditions. There’s a well-defined cheek piece and rubber butt pad.
Usefully, holes are included both front and rear of the stock so that sling swivels can easily be added.
The manufacturer is claiming the obligatory 1,000 FPS in .177 caliber, together with 830 FPS in .22 cal,
There’s an adjustable trigger, overall length is 42.5 Inches and weight 7 Lbs 1 Oz plus scope, should you choose to fit one.
