Lauren Parsons Says This Scope Is Fantastic!

“The new Sightron S6 Field Target – this scope is fantastic!”

That’s what Lauren Parsons, the four times Ladies World Field Target Champion, told me when we were talking about this latest 10-60 x 56 scope from Sightron.

New Sightron S6 Field Target Scope - It's Fantastic!

So it’s been rather a long time coming, but this new dedicated Field Target scope sounds as if it will definitely be a top-notch choice. It’s in stock at Airguns of Arizona right now, as Lauren confirmed.

Sightron explains that the design employs two Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass elements. This provides – they say – an unprecedented shooting experience with a 55% improvement in optical resolution over the HAM Gold Award-winning SIII 10-50×60 FT model.

In addition, Sightron redesigned the parallax cam system with 330 degrees of total rotation. It is optimized for precise Field Target parallax adjustments ranging from 9-300 Meters with 91 degrees of parallax correction in the critical 40-60 Yard target range.

That’s a huge advantage for ranging out beyond 40 Yards, Lauren explained, as it makes precise range determination much easier to accomplish.

Lauren also praised the new scope’s 145mm (5.7 Inch) diameter sidewheel. This magnetic-attachment sidewheel was developed in collaboration with Italian specialists Garima Design & Customization. The magnetic connection allows the wheel to attach or detach in less than a second without tools.

She explained that it’s great for transporting your gun and when you need to make a quick adjustments to your rifle on the line. It also fits back precisely and repeatably, she told me. Very important, that!

The Sightron 10-60 x 56 ED FT scope is a Second Focal Plane design. There’s a choice of reticles – MOA (above) and Mil (below).

So there’s plenty of reasons to justify Lauren’s claim that “this scope is fantastic.” And there’s more to come. Hard Air Magazine will be bringing you more details in future as we get them.

The price is $1,999.99. But don’t forget that HAM Community members may redeem your HAM Airgun Points with AoA in a very beneficial manner…

I’m seriously considering purchasing the benchrest version of this scope. I’m not really sure what the difference is between the FT and BR models. It started with me telling my wife that I need a dedicated benchrest scope. I told her I was considering the economy Heras version of the Athlon 15-60x. When I told her the prices, I almost fell over when she suggested that it might be better to buy the ARES version. A little research later and I discovered that the Sightron with their military discount is less expensive than the Athlon. Anyone have real life experience with either the Sightron or Athlon 15-60 scopes for target shooting? I’m finding it really difficult to justify this kind of money for something that doesn’t shoot lol. Yes, I understand optics are important.

I have an ares 4.5-30 and like it but i think i shoot just as well with a 6-24x 56 helos. The big thing i think is being able to see your hits in the black part of the target.

Billm, I bought an Athlon Ares 15x60 just recently on the recommendation from @Pesty3782, as that is what he shoots, it is really nice scope and I have been supper happy with it, I will be shooting at the Oregon Extreme BR competition next month.

That is where I was leaning, now I’m torn between that and the Sightron S6. Sightron offers a 20% military discount. That makes the Sightron $100 less expensive. The $100 in the big scheme of things isn’t a deal breaker, I just want the best optics for that price point, Athlon offers a military discount on Athlon through Guidefitters, but unfortunately they’re not in stock. The Athlon military discount through Guidefitters is significant. If the price sticks when it’s back in stock, that would be a definite consideration.

I have A Discovery ED 5-25 and a 5-30. The extra 5x doesn’t make much difference. I would like to zoom in some more. The mil discount makes the Ares 15-60 $1090 vs $1439 for the Sightron ( without the $200 focus wheel). I’m still choking at that lol. I’m tired of moving scopes though. I may wait a little longer before splurging. My scopes are Mil reticle and I’m thinking if switching back to MOA for target shooting.
