IT Looks Like IPAC in Florida Is Off To A Good Start

I don’t understand all of the negativity. I wasn’t going to comment, as I don’t have a dog in the fight. But, honestly it sounds like a turf war. From what I can figure out, no one involved with the event is active on HAM and so it’s no surprise they’re not commenting or providing updates on here. The shooters involved have a large Facebook group and are actively organizing events on the east coast. Obviously they haven’t marketed their events outside of their community or at least not that any of us have seen. I don’t want anyone to think I’m speaking for them, I’m not, I spoke to one of the people involved once and that was because he contacted me because of something I posted in their FB group.
The lack of results is an issue with most regional airgun events that I’ve seen. It was like pulling teeth to find the results from the two events in Mississippi and Louisiana. I spent 30 minutes trying to find the Grand Prix event in Louisiana, because their website has the wrong address for the range on it. I understand that it’s difficult for small clubs to have the same marketing and polished websites etc. as the three biggest airgun distributors in the U.SA.. But, at least they’re trying.
Again, I don’t get the hostility. Not everyone who wants to shoot competition is on a team or lives out west. Surely it’s a good thing to see more events that help grow the hobby.

To be honest, on their IPAC website, they have a spot for results, and I was thinking they would be posting the results for each day on there, but they have nothing posted. As a past Trap shooter, it was always nice, and still is nice to follow along at large shoots. I was just hoping for something to see how the shoot is going...

I agree wth you 100%. They could do better with their website, It could be they don’t have cellular coverage. I’m being kind lol. But, in all honesty I switched to T-Mobile before Christmas. Huge mistake. I now don’t have cell coverage within 5 miles of my house. Just a thought.
I thought the results might be in the FB group, but they’re not. The event is sponsored by AEA-BINTAC and so I would imagine they have plenty of resources.

HAM, and AGN. Not a peep from anyone. A few minor IG posts by individuals. Room for improvement? Duh. Also, a competitor there told me he didn’t think the 100Y and 150Y scores were even done yet. Sad….
It’s definitely a different take on promoting an event. I saw your post asking a competitors name so that you could follow their progress. I saw no response, so I hoped they responded privately.

I opened my Instagram out of curiosity and the first item I saw, top of my "feed" was a series of 8 photos from IPAC from TalonTunes. Looks like pretty good attendance, shooting lines showed a typical line of people shooting. There was a photo of a helicopter landing. Lots of sponsor banners lining the entrance road to the event.

But yes, no results yet. HOWEVER, for the entire time I've been involved in airguns I've seen posts like this one
about people wanting to see results during events. So, they're right in line with all of the big airgun events in that regard.

I'm with @Billm, I just don't get the negativity. It's not very realistic for the average, unsponsored shooters to travel cross country. More matches is good for everyone, and especially good for the airgun retailers who are the real drivers behind these large shooting events anyway. The Southeast didn't have a large event like this, and if this becomes an annual thing, now they will.

I personally think that's awesome. The only way I can even fathom negatives is from those not attending who think it'll somehow hurt their "street cred" as self-proclaimed "airgun elite," by not attending and/or placing at this particular event. Based on negative comments, there are some who seem to see themselves as the airgun industries sweethearts/golden boys that appear to feel left out by not being at IPAC.

@Franklink, I was not being negative. Just seems a big shoot like this would be able to post scores throughout the event. But totally agree it’s good for the air gunner world!!
Exactly. Everyone has their own opinion.

My comment wasn’t really about posting scores, it was comments from the ACTUAL COMPETITORS that are frustrated that at 10:30pm on Saturday they still don’t know their scores or which of them made the finals in 100Y or 150Y BR first thing in the morning. THAT is not normal for big events like EBR and RMAC. But you wouldn’t know that if you never actually attended one of those events. Just sayin’. And yup, that’s my own opinion.

Have any of you ever run a match and have been match director? It's a ton of work and in the long run, you get to do most of it yourself. The last thing on your mind is to post scores just to satisfy the readers of these forums. I sure would love to know myself, but this is their first match and I'm sure a lot of chaos is involved. Let's let the dust settle and see what happens.
