Panthera I Jumped In!

I'm new to this FX stuff, and I've got to say that I was rather shocked today, when I saw how small the regulators were in the Dynamic block. I had no idea and never really thought about it before. It amazes me that they even work at all. The bellville washers are tiny compared to the ones in my AAA Paradigm, or even the Ninja reg on my Gauntlet. Considering how consistent the FX regs can be at their diminutive size, I wonder why so many other regs are so much bigger. I would have to believe that bigger bellvilles would last longer, but maybe the smaller ones react faster, I don't know, but it did catch me off guard. I thought that Huma forgot to put the regulator in the package. It's the size of a toothpaste cap. I know that not being attached to a plenum makes them look smaller, but even accounting for that, pretty small. I just never read anybody talking about the actual size before so I thought I'd mention it.
If you saw the first reg in a m3 you wouldn’t even identify it as a reg. It was pretty much useless too!

O.K., I guess I'm not done buying. The moment I saw that I could use this w/o using my phone and it had an excellent little side mount option, w/o touching the barrel, I was in.

Oh sweet, I dont mount things to my barrel either lol! Let us know your thoughts on this thing👍.
I badly need to use my chrono more often but I dislike my Prochrono (outdoor, & fair weather only) and a light kit is over $100 to make it more reliable....either that or I sell it and take a small loss and get something better. I feel the Garmin and the Athlon are just too much coin, but its tough to beat that convience. Nate chrony says he's working on something better but....times a ticking.

It's a funny thing. They announce it, I look for it, and instead of saying they don't have any yet, they say 'sold out'. smh
At least at the stores I checked out. I will be getting one though. If I want to make consistent hits at 300y (and I really do) then I am going to have to keep track of my velocities for that. I really should get a digital reg guage but I'm going to hold off on that for now.

Waiting on the FedEx truck to finally deliver the airgun and I just read about the new stiff, screw-in bull barrel for the Dynamic block. Huh, I won't be getting this project finished as fast as I originally thought. Screwing the barrel in is the way to go, I just wonder about the weight.
Nice!! I literally just watched that video Matt dropped😅. FX is bringing out solid barrels...wow!..... i will be watching intently.
Im sure people will complain about the added weight for sure, I say bring it on! The Panthera was never meant to be light, nor the M3/M4 platform. The Leopard is a good walk and stalk gun and should be kept light though imo.

Well I started going over the FX this morning. I missed something on the photo that UA posted of the gun, so I might have to eat this, as all sales are final. If you zoom in on that picture you will notice that the adjustment lever screw for the cheekpiece lever is missing. You can see the screw in the butt stock lever clearly. I emailed UA about it, we'll see what happens. I can't believe that with all their handling of the gun, that nobody checked function of the adjustments, or that it didn't just fall off on its own.

Now that I know what to look for, the missing screw really stands out, even not zooming in.

Am I right in thinking that the cheek piece cannot be locked in place? I hope that you can find a replacement screw. I am really wanting to hear your feedback on the FX. Solo1 has me thinking about buying the new Panthera II.

Luckily, this stock is designed by Sabre Tactical, aka DonnyFL, and he built it right. Even with the lever missing, it still works, it just doesn't lock in place. I can push on the plate, that the lever sits onto, and raise the cheek piece still. It doesn't seem like it would move easily out of position either, but still, it should have the lock lever.
Edit: Actually, thinking on it, this is an unlock lever. When you turn the lever it unlocks by pushing on the plate, and locks by releasing the plate.

How special is that screw? In such a situation I'd remove the other one, try it in place of the missing screw and verify it works. If it does, take it with to the nearest hardware store. Heck i'd replace both and get something black😎....but thats just me.
Also if you haven't, I'd rip the case apart looking for it....maybe it's between the foam and the case?

Yeah, I might have to do that, but I would like UA to find it on there workbench and just send it to me. Besides, the remaining one looks like stainless steel and really polished. I will contact ST before I go on a wild goose chase.

I did not get much done this weekend. I was pretty bummed out about that missing screw yesterday and not catching it in the photo. I did clean the barrel and it was filthy. I would have thought that UA would have pulled a patch through it, but nope. I saw quite a bit of lead on my patch, similar to what I see when I shoot hybrids, but UA's sales write up said that they shot H&N out of it, which means that I will be pulling the barrel and polishing that too. I also re-worked the foam in the FX gun case so that the gun rested correctly in it. That is still a work in progress because I'm not sure yet what is going where. The gun, with the IA1350 on it, won't fit without both ends touching plastic, tightly. So I will always have to take the moderator off. Today, I drilled out the face of my 14.3g Huma hammer and put a .25" peek plug in it. It is still about 1/5th of a gram heavier than the stock FX 8mm hammer, so that's something I guess. I know it will be a lot quieter shot cycle, being that it's brass instead of steel, and the peek striking face.

Well, personally the way I see it: an airgunner of your caliber should not put up with a missing screw on a multi-thousand dollar air rifle. I find it hard to believe that you will be content with such a train wreck!! When you’re ready, I’ll send you my address and alleviate you of your recent disappointment. I’ll even pay the shipping so that you’re not out any more money.

In the vain, that people keep taking some of these posts too serious, it’s a joke. Well at least the part about me paying the shipping. 😂🤣😂😉

Yeah Bill, I got it. lol The shipping part was pretty good.

I'm beginning to figure out what makes FX guns so good, for so many, and so bad, for everybody else. There's a lot to unpack saying that, and I'm not going to here. It would be a book nobody would want to read anyway. At this early stage I would say that I come down pretty much right in the middle. I'm never going to be a fanboy, but I am going to get everything out of this thing that I can, and that's a pretty big amount.

I’m glad you enjoyed my shot at humor. On a serious note, I am very interested in your FX experience. I’m considering the Panthera MK 2 if it’s available in the near future.

Yes you definitely picked up the right set up! I have the Panthera in 30 800mm tricked out shooting 90 grainers at 950 and 78s at 1045. My dynamic is 25 shooting the 68 grainers at 925 fps and needs the 800 mm but now waiting on the new FX bull barrels for both. Mt Fx tactical is 25 and shooting the 50 grainers at 900 fps in 700 also waiting on the new barrel! All shooting sub Moa groups and ready for vermin this year!!! Very nice! 800mm barrels on a standard block is the definition of long, the barrels start sagging after that! Good power out of that .30 too. I'm hoping mine shoots as well as yours, because I really don't want to get the heavy barrels unless I have to.

I can put another spacer in it to get 1035 with the 90 grainers but the air trade off is to much unless going for bigger game

Yeah, I know, replying to my own thread, but here is what happened: Utah Airguns for the Win! They had already contacted Saber Tactical to send me a new one before they emailed me back. That's class! I still don't know why FX didn't use them as their U.S, distributor, seemed like a no-brainer to me. Still does.
