Thank you for answering my post. 16 yds is 50 ft. The sight picture is cloudy and i feel the target can be bigger. SFP i like and weight and size are not a problem. I have a wiehrauch hw100x in .177. Primarily shoot benchrest
OK, I'll try to give you some pointers — but without a stated budget and some of the other details — this is hard to do.
SHOOTING SCENARIO:
⭓Benchrest ➔ no weight and size requirements
⭓16y ➔ really short range, requires a close min. parallax
SCOPE YOU HAVE:
Hawke Vantage HD 30 6-24x50 SFP (c. $440)
YOU WANT/LACK:
🅐 "I cannot seem to find a scope that is clear; I have a Hawke Vantage that pretty good but still not clear." "The sight picture is cloudy."
🅑 "I feel the target can be bigger."
OPTIONS:
🅐 You wanting a clearer, less cloudy scope either means:
▪︎ you have gotten a lemon, an unusually poorly manufacturered Vantage scope.
▪︎ Or your clarity requirements are quite high, and that you will need to spend a good amount of money to get up to the next level of glass quality.
Some higher quality scopes in the magnification range you have right now (6-24x or 5-25x or 4-24x), in SFP, with 10/15y parallax, and exposed turrets:
⭓Athlon Ares HLR 4-24x50 SFP
$950-1060
⭓Hawke Frontier 30 SF 4-24x50 SFP (No. 18431)
$700-900
(
Frontier is Hawke's flagship series)
⭓Maven RS.5 4-24x50 SFP
$1400
⭓Trijicon Tenmile 4-24x50 SFP
$900-1890
⭓Athlon Heras SPR 6-24x56 SFP
$650-750

➧
You have more options if you're OK with an FFP scope:
⭓Tract Toric UHD 34mm 4-25x50 FFP
$1490
⭓Element Titan 5-25x56 FFP
$800
⭓Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25x56 FFP
$700-800
🅑 You wanting a larger magnification than 24x for such a short range is somewhat surprising — but we all have our requirements.
⭓Hawke Frontier 30 SP 5-30x56 SFP (No. 18441)
$740-950
⭓Athlon Heras 15-60x56 SFP
$780-880
⭓Athlon Ares ETR Gen. 2 15-60x56 SFP
$1300-1560
⭓Sightron S6 (SVI) 6-48x56 SFP
$1500-1600
⭓Trijicon Tenmile 5-30x56 SFP
$1800-2800
⭓You might also look at Sightron's offerings of higher magnification target scopes and fixed magnification scopes. I don't have them in my Scopes Specs Tables...
Happy scope shopping!
