Others GPO Centuri Compact 4-16x44mm atop my Pathfinder…💥

I was wanting a little more magnification in the same form factor as my WestHunter 3-12x44 for my Pathfinder. And had been looking hard at the Athlon Helos BTR G2, 2-12×42 AHMR2 FFP IR MIL scope. The length, weight, and max 12x magnification was keeping me at bay.

This one was also tempting but I did not like any of the reticles…

The GPO Compact wasn’t even on my radar until the following posts by @AIRbranden and the previous one by @jps2486.

And also @grackleblast, who owns two and loves his. But more importantly for me I really like the PLRi reticle. So I ordered one and have high expectations. Thank you gentlemen for costing me money…🙈 Am hoping to return the deed to others. That the GPO Centuri Compact 4-16x44mm won the NRA 2026 Optic of the Year Award was icing on the cake. So here it is, the uncluttered top portion of the FFP, Mil-base PLRi reticle drew me in. Two MILs of hold unders is plenty for my close range applications. It affords me a nice view of the intended target or prey. The lower portion of the reticle has numbered MIL references. The Christmas Tree is simple and not unrealistically busy. I am not a scope connoisseur, but the optical quality? To my old eyes is sharp, It crisply goes from 4x-16x, very nice. The stepless, daylight bright IR lights up the whole reticle. It really is the “cats meow”, simply dial in what suits your eyes at the moment. The tactile, turret rotation indicator is a big plus. The Zero Stop ensures a swift return to your Zero. Very nice audible clicks on the vertical and horizontal turret knobs. They pull up nicely and lock back down firmly. I was going to post up immediately upon receiving it, but decided to put to the test first. Below are some images of my first targets shot at my 30 yard zero. Then it was on to plinking the pictured black walnut husks, from 25 to 50 yards. I have a feeling its going to be a really good pesting scope. The Pathfinder is loving getting “spooned” 🙈 by the sweet scope atop it. Again a big thanks to all the air gunning community that make it a joy to participate…🙏 A pic of my rig and some of the targets…

I have that Helos G2 2-12x you were looking at on my .30 and it is very good for that but you were right to go for more power for small targets. That looks like a nice little scope. JWR (Cyclops) has been talking those scopes up for a while now but I have seen very few out in the wild being reviewed. It will be interesting to hear how you feel about it down the road. You reminded me that I never set the zero stop on my Nexus too, so thanks for that! Enjoy your new glass.
