Here is a quick clip of shooting a spinner at 102yds at night in total darkness with a BRK Ghost HP .25 AEA pellets. The IR illuminates the pellets or slugs and they almost look like tracers. You can see the flight from muzzle to target. I will post a better video later. This is just a quick clip from last night. The quality is not great as YT downgraded it. I will edit one in HD and try that. The Ghost HP amazes me how quiet it is. I also have a slow motion version. @hameditor @Pumacarl

Well, I just watched that 20 times in a row! Bill, if you would, please try missing next time. No joke. I would like to see if you could use it to walk in on targets. Right now it looks like you really see it a lot up close but when the target gets hit, it's not really in the picture. Or is it? I couldn't tell, it all happens so quickly. The footage of just being able to shoot accurately at night though is pretty awesome all by itself, especially since the wind usually dies down at night. Very handy! Thanks for the video!

Maybe, since you are shooting from a dedicated bench, you could set up a separate ir light source from the side, shining directly on the target so that you wouldn't get the light splash from so close to the gun off of the pellet initially? Something to think about I guess. You are right, most YouTubers don't show target shooting at night, just hunting shots. You're an innovator!

Looks cool, but why use a holdover indicator ( <+> ) with a non tentioned reticle (one that shows tickmarks for MILS or MOA)? That just makes no sense to me.

If you go into the settings and select “dial in”, your chosen reticle (in the case of the vid the + ) will be placed at the correct POI at target distance. Meaning you can always aim with the center of your chosen reticle! (Whether it’s a cross a circle a dot or what ever, you always aim with it like you are shooting at your zero distance!)

But then you reply: -“Yes but if I do not see the holdover mark, I do not know if the scope is using the correct ballistic solution!”

Well, by that logic you still don’t know when you are using your method, as you don’t have a reticle with vertical tentions (tick marks) so you can’t check exactly how much holdover the scope is displaying! (Only that the holdover is “a little bit” or “some more” or “a lot more” under the reticle center.

But here’s the deal: IF you have lased the target, when you get a distance displayed, THAT is the indicator that the scope is using the correct ballistic solution for that distance!
So the crosscheck is not “I see a holdover mark ( <+> ), so the scope must be correct” But: “I see a distance displayed, so the scope must have placed the RETICLE in the correct position!”

I usually shoot with a MRAD Christmas tree and I don’t usually use the built-in BC calculator. I don’t really need to. I shoot on the same acre almost every day and know the various ranges.
I believe you may have gotten your scope nomenclature mixed up: there’s no such thing as a “tentioned reticle”. A “tensioned” scope means that it has a wire reticle vs an etched reticle. I do realize that you probably mean a reticle with subtensions.

I’m aware of the two options for BC reticle and have used them both. For me, I like the simple aim point on the digital scope, as it keeps it clean and uncluttered for video. In my opinion, that’s why there are options. I don’t t recall stating that I use it to confirm that the BC calculation is correct. The BC calculation is only as good as the ballistic table and the environmental data entered. Even then the BC has to be manually adjusted to get the correct calculation on the TNC225R.
Your last statement is not entirely correct, if I am reading it right. On the TNC225R you hit the ranging button once to get a range and you hit it again to get either a holdover aim point or the reticle moves to the calculated point of aim. The ranging button and the button to switch from thermal to night vision do not always register. When the NV/thermal button doesn’t toggle it is obvious. But, when the ranging button doesn’t register, there is no way to to tell unless the holdover option is selected. The range is displayed once you hit it to range a target and stays the same
