Marauder Benj MROD, " I don't get no respect"

I'm sure most people know the, I don't get no respect, line from the late & great Rodney Dangerfield's routine. Sometimes I feel the same way about the Benj Marauder. I have had this action on 3 different stocks and never had to adjust the scope. Just the other day I had it on a boyd stock (which I have returned) and it is lights out at 30 and 50 yds. It is just as accurate as my HW100 and HW110 although both are generally thought of as a cut above the MROD. They are, when it comes to furniture and ergonomics but not accuracy in my opinion. One caveat I think pertinent is that most American Air Gun manufacturers have been bought up by a venture capital group that will probably consolidate them and sell as a unit to another venture capital group. That does not bode well for American made air guns. Fortunately my MROD was made on 2021 and got away before this got underway. Note:I messed up on the 50yd target with 3rd shot.

I think they have gotten a huge amount of respect, that's why so many of us complain about the company's fate over the past few years. It's still my favorite walk around hunting rifle.

I liked the Boyd stock it is a quality product and I like the thumb hole configuration. It is a roll over design and the right side is cut out. I am sure to reduce the weight but the bottom line is short of adding an adj comb I could never get proper eye alignment consistently. I rigged it up with a product from eBay and that is what I shot those groups with but it was not suitable for long term use. I have 2 standard MROD stocks with adjustable combs. I am going to have the synthetic stock dipped in a carbon fiber film. IMO, the MROD and the Armada is your biggest bang for you buck at the present time.

Crosman has been owned by several capital venture companies over the years. The new ownership is just the latest to acquire them. All we can do is wait and see what comes of it. They didn't kill off BSA so there may be some hope Crosman continues on.

I don't want them to just carry on, I want them to catch up and surpass! They had such an early lead that was totally squandered, a shame.

What I’d like to see in an MRod model. Not necessarily a full replacement of their current bolt action, but an available model with a side lever. I just think it’s time for a nice smooth MRod SL.

I used to complain about Crosman not upgrading the Marauder bolt action to a side lever also. But I'm completely indifferent to it now, ever since I installed the Marauder thumb rest bolt Marauder Thumb Rest - Airgun Revisions that Rich at Airgun Revisions sells on my Marauders. In fact, I may actually prefer the bolt action Marauder over my other air rifles with the side level now. Which probably just made most peoples mind explode when they read that.

I’m not chasing big power or long range shooting however. I don’t have heavy springs and don't need extra leverage to cock my rifles. I’m kind over all the modification craze and trying to make the Marauder more than what it was meant to be. I’m completely content with my Marauders being simple, mild manured and mid to low powered rifles.
