Its been hot here in Southern California, so I haven't been inclined to get out and shoot as much as I'd really like, although I did spend the afternoon on Monday on the range shooting my HW97K. It was indeed hot, but I still enjoyed myself. Today I'm going to enjoy myself in the airconditioning and plan to wax my TX200 as well as my HW97K. I purchased some Renaissance Wax through Amazon and want to use that, although I've just a couple of questions. First, I've been using Hoppes Gun Stock Wax several times a year, and been pleased well enough. I also use Balistol after each day of shooting. . . I love that stuff! Next, the jar of Renaissance Wax says to use sparingly, and to allow 30 minutes between applacations. I applied a nice coat last evening to my my HW97, and it looks pretty good, really bringing out the grain in the walnut. It did not darken the finish, which is good, giving the wood a nice satin look. How many coats would be optional? Is continuing to use Balistol going to cause any problems? Even though I used the Renaissance Wax sparingly, could it ever begin to "gum up" any of the metal working parts? What's your experience with Renaissance been? Do you see sny problems with it, or should I go back to Hoppes, perhaps alternating applications? Gosh but I'm a fussy old man, but I'm open to your suggestions. Orv.
