    Head or Shoulder for Squirrels?

I almost always go for head shots, but more specifically I go for the cns connection if I can. The base of the skull where it meets the neck.

For what it's worth, here's a schematic. This is my favorite way for my own guns so I can source bulk o rings from the o ring store.

Others American Air Arms Picture Thread

My other gun is a katran compact in 22, I agree with a little diversity. Im currently selling for a friend an early version mini and he would trade for my katran if I wanted, but honestly there's features about the katran I like more than the mini. The 15" is about the perfect size for a do all...

Very nice. Im interested in your findings with slugs. Obviously accuracy with them but what kind of power it can push and shot count efficiency

Others American Air Arms Picture Thread

From the mountains to the farms my 15" Evol has been on pest hunting duty for the last 4 years. Literally thousands of ground squirrel, pigeons, collard dove and starlings have succumbed to the accuracy of this gun. Rugged and reliable , there's a reason it's been one of my two airgun arsenal...

    Others so what if?

Evol .22 with the new features(valve, easy cocking, external adj reg) 19" 1/16 twist sub moa barrel with original tensioned shroud and moderator system. Basically a slug shooting Evol. Oh and get rid of the burst disc and have standard plug screw bleed off.

It won't matter both work just fine. Head neck shots and they'll drop on the spot

Best pellet or Slug for birds?

Jts 21.53 hit hard, if you don't care about saving a bunch of the meat javelin 21 grain slugs will turn them inside out

Odd deal with jts 22.07 in the Evol, and good find with AEA 21.9

Yes mine is a 15" and prior to shifting to the 22 grain pellets I have been shooting javelin 21 grains for a few years. My barrel loves that slug. I have shot the javelins from what they are right now at about 885 fps up to 970 fps maxed out. My absolute best tune for those was 2250 reg...

Odd deal with jts 22.07 in the Evol, and good find with AEA 21.9

That was my first thought as well, but after a good cleaning and reseasoning with only the jts pellets nothing changed unfortunately

Odd deal with jts 22.07 in the Evol, and good find with AEA 21.9

I do a ton of pesting with my Evol on ground squirrel and birds. I primarily have used 21 grain javelin slugs for squirrels over the years, but as much as I shoot that gets a little pricey and honestly if the wind is mild I don't always need slugs. I have praised jts 22.07 in the past as being...

    Degas or leave charged ?

You can leave an airgun charged indefinitely. Theres really no reason to ever degas a gun unless you are going to work on it.

.22 What Pellets for squirrel & Rabbit?

As far as pellets go for killing small game, placement will always trump anything else. Use your most accurate out of your gun and go for head/neck shots and they will be drt. In my experience none of the expanding pellets do much different than a good domed. When you go to a good expanding slug...

Condor How good a field target air rifle would a Condor in .177 prove to be?

Not to derail your original question, but have you given the jts airacuda or airacuda max a thought for your needs? Like others have said i don't think for your uses in field target you would have much to gain from an airforce. But when I owned the airacuda standard version in 22 at full power...

    The future of PCP

I'm not sure about returning all the way to slingshots, but pretty accurate that everyone returns to simpler platforms usually. Ultimately, airguns are about fun. If its not fun anymore because stuff is too complicated it defeats the whole point. Of course, "fun" is subjective. Im just a...

    The future of PCP

I'm not sure where the future will go, but I HOPE it goes in the direction of advancing technology to where we don't need 700mm barrels to make serious power. Also, get rid of this choke business, slugs are here to stay and chokes are an old school fix for crappy ammo and crappy barrels. I...

Shoot slugs…without zeroing or testing?! Whaaaat?

Guess it depends on how far you want to shoot and what kind of accuracy you expect at given range. Me personally, I tune and test extensively, I dont like guessing if its the wind, a bad shot or the slug wandering off. Imo slugs are for long range(100 yards or more) if I can't get them to...

Break Barrel Sudden R9 issue ,need some advice

If velocity is consistent and same as before I very much doubt the breach seal. Sounds like a barrel issue, most likely heavily leaded. If shooting premiers they tend to be some of the worst for fouling. I didn't read through all the posts, but I'm assuming you did the obvious screw check and...
