Thanks for your response. I'll share some before pictures soon.
I always like to wipe of fingerprints and any moisture away with a rag sprayed with a bit of ballistol. Where the metal meets the wood, it seems a bit of ballistol gets onto the wood anyway, so I end up wiping the whole gun, stock...
I did the same thing with a number of pistols...I love the Mark I and Mark II pistols. I got my parts from Mike Baker. I only use urethane seals.
The older versions with the hammer spring adjustment screw, I like the best. I "tuned" a Mark II to shoot H&N Plinking pellets (the cheapest...
Please elaborate. I have several vintage Diana spring guns that I would like to restore their stocks to as close to original color as possible and then care for them like the heirlooms they are.
What harm can a wiped down with Ballistol do to wood? Even after each use...not a soaking, just a...
You never know what an airgun will like. I put 20 different pellets to a test once in an entry-level break-barrel (I think it was an Umarex Embark). Best pellet was JSB SCHaK. 2nd best? H&N Econ II. In another case, I had a Crosman Mark II pistol that loved H&N Plinking pellets above any others...
Now try 20 shot groups with the best 3 premium pellets and the 2 best cheapie pellets. Adjust your sights so you don't shoot out your aiming point. Then compare. 20 shot groups give you way more predictability than 5, and will include the "flier" that are not really fliers.
I have a refurbished Beeman R9 from P.A. in .22; shoots like a dream with HM Field Target Trophys with 5.53mm heads.
I also have an old Diana 36 (a 34D with nicer stock and front sight). I would think a used Diana 34 would suit you as well to try out springers again. If your heart is set on...
My limited experience is with a Diana 350 Magnum that I bought at an online auction bundled with another airgun I really wanted. However, that Diana surprised me as far as its smoothness and accuracy. It must have been tuned, because they have a reputation for vibration and killing scopes. I...
Check out Pellets and Pistons on YouTube for a lot of videos on springers. I got a small tub of moly grease from Pyramydair.com a little goes a long way. They also have a product called Tune in a Tube that you can apply to a spring right from the slot in the spring tube so you don't have to...
Think of another collectible airgun that increased in value over time...Sheridan Model A Supergrade. If it is great condition, does it matter if it was shot? Nah.
Enjoy it. If its a collectible (to you) and you are hoping for appreciation over time, baby it. But I think airguns are like cars...
I have Beeman R9 (same gun), and it is a nice rifle, no doubt, and the "stainless" look is nice. But I would be hard pressed to get another just for looks. If I was motivated to sell or give away the R9, that's another story.
Back to the original post, do you already have a similar gun in...
