Benchrest BillM’s Sept. 2026 X-Shot: competitor perspectives

I wrote Eley an email asking them to consider making an additional section of the App to utilize 100 yard BR as most of the major USA competitions. I think this would be a viable business option for them as new targets would need to be printed. Although I am not really into benchrest - it seems to be more popular than field target.
If you're interested - maybe send a similar request.

Solo I found that taking the picture while hanging on a black or dark colored wall worked well. We have a large ballistic block wall that works perfectly for this. A tree might work well for you.

You cannot tip or tilt your phone or it will give you poor scoring results.

That new chrono screen looks fantastic!

I just painted a piece of heavy cardboard black to lay them on

I pulled a random barrel out of the .22 cal production bin. I gave it a quick clean and started shooting it. I ran out of JTS 18g pellets, so I switched to JSB 18g.

I’ve noticed that if there is glare on the target from the lighting, the app will have a lower degree of certainty or not score the target correctly.

See @BenjeneerJohn ‘s #3 target above, even though the score was correct it still flagged it as a possible error.

Went to my private range to trim and clean up a bit after last weeks rain storms

Brought the Daystate Red Wolf GP .177 HP and shot the QYS 9.56 gr pellets at 875 FPS - 16.3 FPE

Very little wind today so my score was 246 - 8 X

I just saw the guy over at Thomas Air post this target software he is testing out. TargetIQ

I just did a quick test and it will score the Eley X targets. This is just a FYI, I am not suggesting we change anything.

One of the cool feature it has it will take all 25 shots and put it into one image with the state on group size. I am most interested in the centroid or location of the center of the group. As I am shooting without any wind (indoors) in theory i need to take two clicks ( 1/4 turret) to the left.

That's an awesome feature showing all shots like that. That is very helpful, just like in baseball tracking an at bat.

FYI - I only did one quick photo that did give me a different score than Eley. I didn't tray and track down the difference as I was just wanted to analyze the group.
