250Z New Look at Barra 270z, 300z and western revolvers at RMAC

Is it just me or are the upgrades listed the exact same specs as the 250z barrel is 27.5in and they list the air tube on the 250z as 322cc but the upgrades for the 270 are listed as a longer barrel at 27.5 and larger air tube at 322cc???????

The barrel length and air tube volume are the same between the two models. In terms of air capacity and performance, the key change is the plenum volume was doubled over the original 250z. Because the plenum is built into the action block itself, the flow from the plenum to the valve is much greater than the aftermarket 250z plenums that screw into the regulator gauge hole. This makes the 270z have a higher top end power potential without requiring mods for those who want it, otherwise, the rifle shoots much more efficiently at lower power levels.

As others have mentioned, there have been significant changes made to the bolt, trigger, and safety. The hammer spring tension can now be adjusted without needing to remove the stock. It is quite a bit different overall than just sticking a 250z into a wood stock.

Gosh I hate that flat spot on top of the stock right behind the bolt handle. I just can't imagine why Barra did not design a faux bolt shroud to go behind the bolt handle to preserve the looks of the traditional bolt-action rifle design.

I hope there is someone out there with a 3D printer that dislike that look as much as I do and offers an add-on bolt shroud as an aftermarket part. I could 'whittle' one out in the garage on my own if I had to???

Yes, I see that. But, the safety would not interfere with a faux bolt shroud.

Look at a pic of any traditional Remington, Winchester, Ruger, etc bolt rifle and you will see why I take issue with the look that the 270z has.

Doesn't seem like any, or many others are taking exception to this lack of bolt shroud look so maybe it's just my 'thing'???

The biggest reason is there is just enough clearance to access the hammer adjustment with a properly sized screwdriver in the current design to be able to adjust the hammer spring tension with no disassembly required. A longer cover would have required minor disassembly to adjust the hammer spring tension. The decorative cover that is there can easily be replaced with a different 3d printed cover should someone want to do so.

There are bolt action firearms on the market that utilize a very similar appearance in this area, so the aesthetic isn't totally unfamiliar. As with anything visual, preferences will vary from person to person, and sometimes that preference can be quite strong. It is just the nature of designing things.

Can you get you fps spread down to 10-15 fps? I know it’s not none of the other higher dollar ones but with a regular and a plenum it shout be a little better then 28 fps I think. Was looking at the 270 to get but it needs a better std deviation . I know it’s not a Fx or daystate but seeing it competing in the RMAC maybe it can be dialed in tighter? Just asking. I’m been working with the FX and Daystate over the years and other brands in the beginning back when we started the silhouette and fill target in the early 80s. Powermonger

Oh It can be lower, in the single digit.. I have a external regulator, so I tune to the most power and the find a slug it like and lower it with the hammer spring from there to find the tightest group...

I also tune for more power. Tim owner of Mac-1 airguns where I worked in the early 80s and ran the south coast gun club airgun matches for silhouette in the beginning told me I was never happy with my airguns! That I was always modifying them for more power even if I had to cut them up to make a new one out of them! Said I was nothing more than a Powermonger that wasn’t ever happy till it shot my way! Well it stuck
