2026 Pyramyd Cup Winners – Maybe Not What You Expect…

2026 Pyramyd Cup Winners

Now for the 2026 Pyramyd Cup winners! Maybe this post will not be exactly what you are expecting but first, I want to call-out the really outstanding shooting of two amazing winners.

Outstanding 2026 Pyramyd Cup Winners – Field Target

First – and featured in our heading photograph above – veteran competitor Greg Suave won the WFTF PCP Field Target competition with a PERFECT SCORE of 60 points! This is an almost unheard-of achievement in the Field Target world. Congratulations Greg!

For the record, Greg was shooting a Thomas in .177 caliber with March scope and JSB 8.4 Grain pellets. Greg is always a strong competitor on the FT circuit, but this must be his pinnacle achievement, particularly as the lighting conditions were very challenging in the woods course – in some cases it was tough to even see the targets, let alone hit them!

Outstanding 2026 Pyramyd Cup Winners – Benchrest

Secondly, the headline 100 Yard benchrest competition was won by Thayne Simmons (below) with a score of 469 – 16X.

This was – again – a massive display of shooting expertise as Thayne won the event in 2023 also and is always a strong contender in this discipline. Congratulations Thayne!

Thayne was shooting a Karma Red Panda with an Element Optics scope and AEA pellets.

You can see full scores on the Pyramyd Cup website.

2026 Pyramyd Cup Winners – The Pyramyd Team

Now, stay with me, because I would like to call out a large number of Pyramyd Cup winners. They are the Pyramyd team who put this event together!

2026 Pyramyd Cup Winners - Maybe Not What You Expect...

Above. Match Director Tyler Patner is familiar to many as a top-ranking Field Target competitor. He ran the actual shooting events.

Unfortunately I don’t know the names of many of the Pyramyd staff, so apologies there. But I did want to record and share something of their efforts, dedication and enthusiasm that made this event such a success…

Making a massive – 240 competitor – event like this run smoothly is a HUGE achievement. But it’s taken for granted by most all of the attendees. At least until something goes wrong, that is!

Below. Marketing Director Emily Phillipi was co-Match Director and organized everything else. She was always so busy that this is the best photograph I have of her!

2026 Pyramyd Cup Winners - Maybe Not What You Expect...

At the 2026 Pyramyd Cup, nothing went wrong. That’s a massive achievement and the result of the effort and professionalism of the entire Pyramyd Team!

Remember that Pyramyd AIR is not an events management company. They market, sell and support sales of airguns and associated products. The Pyramyd Cup is a one-off, annual event that they somehow pack into their normal work.

Below. Paul Weinzimmer changing targets.

2026 Pyramyd Cup Winners - Maybe Not What You Expect...

I counted in excess of 20 folk wearing blue Pyramyd “Staff” tee shirts. They were the visible hard core of the company’s efforts and I’m trying to highlight them in this post.

But many other Pyramyd staff contributed who were not even present at the event. From the Purchasing Team who sourced the target cards, water and other supplies, to the Warehouse and Shipping staff who loaded everything into vans for transport to the site, we need to thank them too!

HAM-Scenes-3.jpg

Despite his protestations of having “nothing to do with the event”, I hear that Val Gamerman – Pyramyd’s President – was adding his IT skills too by working on the online results display system. Thanks Val!

Airguns need air and Pyramyd had a non-stop air supply system in operation. HPA compressors filled tanks that were distributed liberally around the event. Boris from Air Venturi service was keeping them filled.

HAM-Scenes-2.jpg

Yip. There was a lot of tanks…

HAM-Cup-2-1.jpg

HPA tanks, water and ice were transported efficiently around the event.

HAM-Cup-10-1.jpg

It was hot and humid, so the coolers with water and ice were a life-saver…

HAM-Cup-7-1.jpg

Then there’s the 100 Yard benchrest targets. The target frames were designed in-house (by Boris, I believe), then assembled by Pyramyd staff.

2026 Pyramyd Cup Winners - Maybe Not What You Expect...

There was also an electronic target-viewing system than was of much interest to many people, both competitors and spectators alike.

HAM-Scenes-7.jpg

Plus there’s YouTube videos that need to be filmed, produced and up-loaded, all in minimum time…

HAM-Scenes-21.jpg

Then that huge banquet tent needed to be set-up, filled with tables and chairs and made ready for the final celebration. That’s Emily in action again, carrying a table!

HAM-Scenes-1.jpg

Of course, another critical part of the event is the super, super secret target scoring room. No photographs of that!

Finally, we should remember that many of the Pyramyd staff are enthusiastic and skilled shooters. They would have loved to compete themselves, but they gave up their evenings and weekend so that others should enjoy the event.

Thanks to all at Pyramyd! We should remember how the company gives back to support our airgun hobby…

Thanks @hameditor for the shout outs! Some absolutely incredible shooting this past week. We definitely had luck on our side with the weather.

While our scoring team is sequestered away from prying eyes, I do want to say that we give competitors the opportunity to have their cards re-scored. Though the procedure for this may be changing in the future, I think our team has done a great job over the last few years. Adam Donnett (who is also our Sales Manager) has done a fantastic job of running things and deserves a great deal of praise for getting targets scored in a timely, and more importantly, an accuracte manner.

I haven’t been able to attend this awesome event yet, but again like last year, I’m hoping to attend next year 🤞🏻🤞🏻.

This was the third time I participated in the BR competition and I had a GREAT time. Tyler, Emily and crew put on a world class event and I thank them all for making my experience a positive one. I learn more everytime I shoot there and would encourage anyone, regardless of skill level, to participate. You will not regret it.
