Thumper shroud sliding forward.

I have a Pinty thumper that no matter what I do the barrel shroud keeps pulling away from the block. I have tried everything along with Loctite on the set screw, and it still keeps sliding forward. It slides forward so much as the set screw leaves grooves in the barrel. Any solutions or remedies?

I don't have one so I don't know anything about it, but I would think there would be a recessed spot for the set screw to go into so it couldn't slide like that. If you loosen the screw, can you rotate the shroud or remove it so you could look and see if such a recessed spot is there?

I have had the shroud off and there was not a recess. I made a slight one but didn’t want to go too deep because it is the barrel.

I have no clue if it would work but the thought crossed my mind that instead of a pressure vessel shroud, could vent it like hajimoto productions did in the YT video for the gauntlet?

Now that I think of it, there may have been a notch in the barrel for the set screw. When I took the shroud off the first time, there was nothing but a groove from where that set screw dug in sliding forward.

Good catch, maybe it was misaligned from the factory. Let us know what you discover!

I all ready made a notch in a different spot than where it was from the factory. The problem still remains. All that we have talked about so far I have tried already and have no cure yet.

Does anyone know for a fact that the thumper comes with or without a notch in the barrel for the shroud? If I know this, I know if there is in fact, a problem with the gun or if it is just the shroud notch.
